already ahead of ya ;)
forge.starlightnet.work/Team/No-AI/p...
This is the first release of this list, it will be updated monthly (as per the FAQ on the linked site)
We hope it can be a useful resource for people.
A screenshot of the No-AI list. "A list of projects that pledged not to use AI or are disrupting it." Then follows a list of projects, divided into categories. on the screenshot, "Web/Internet (tools, browser)" and "instant messaging" are visible. The rest is cut off.
# No AI, cuz we don't do that around here.
hiya! You might've seen alexia talking about this a bit already, but we're publishing a list of tech that actively rejects or disallows AI contributions
noai.starlightnet.work
But every single day, we learn something new that makes it *increasingly* difficult to justify staying here in any capacity.
It hasn't been long since we set up a PDS with the expressed purpose of still allowing people that prefer this platform to follow our happenings.
It's becoming increasingly difficult to justify being on this platform for us all.
We've got some new members! They ain't on bluesky, so check out the post we just made here:
shrimp.starlightnet.work/notes/ajaz9d...
This is your reminder that we're also on fedi at @the@starlightnet.work :)
We'll be updating this document according to feedback, and in fact, have already done so! We do not want this to be predatory, but we *also* do not want our contributions to be filled with slop once we adopt a new contributor strategy.
Mind you, this is not a Contributor *License* Agreement, because we do not take copyright or ownership of any code contributed.
It does however lay out policies, like how your code must be submitted under the same license, and how no LLMs may be used during the production of any code.
We are introducing a document that we call the Contributor Policy Agreement.
It's a set of policies that Contributors have to agree to and sign off on to contribute to our projects.

Most importantly, we've introduced a document that we call the Contributor Policy Agreement.
We'll be talking more about that in a separate thread, but you can find the document here:
forge.starlightnet.work/Team/Meta/sr...
the forgejo emoji reactions popup but with many additions, including blobfox, neofox and neocat
We've added some emoji reactions to our Forgejo instance which all contributors may use
Then, we've shitposted, which is incredibly important to our Very Real Businessβ’
Also from the 'moving forward' post: We have a proper process now for when we test new (networked) software, like tangled, such that it's clearer to everyone and it isn't a constant back-and-forth of where we can be reached.
For one, we've dropped our tangled.org experiment
Turns out, our values and those of tangled just didn't align. Especially regarding AI Contribution Policy
You can read more at starlightnet.work/posts/moving...
Right, we have to catch bluesky up on some stuff!
Here's a thread with some changes we've done in the past few weeks:
thanks to @nelson.pds.starlightnet.work for creating this!
We have a video explaining how to join mine.starlightnet.work for y'all!
it quickly goes over how to download and configure FjordLauncher, together with our login/auth server, drasl.
there is more detailed instructions at https://drasl.starlightnet.work!

The poll over on fedi has concluded, our (primary) repositories are now mirrored on https://tangled.org/starlightnet.work as per what people have voted for
We will be mirroring more stuff over as time goes on.
yeah, they just straight up ignored that project. Quite disappointing.
All in all, Starlight network verdict: absolute clownshow.
Just use a European PDS for bluesky, or go find a mastodon instance.
You can find either at arewedecentralizedyet.online/map/
Some people also made w-social.eu, to mock wsocial.eu by listing european Mastodon instances.
There's also projects like @eurosky.social that they just...seemed to have ignored, despite being *explicitly* told about it
They hype it up as "not just another platform" and such, but really this is another Bluesky/social-app AppView that they're spinning up. It was briefly available at staging.wsocial.eu due to an oversight of theirs.
They literally just pretended Mastodon doesn't exist so they can make the *exact* same pitch but more corporate.
Luckily, we have a video that shows exactly how they market this.
mastodon.social/@quillmatiq/...
We think this is, at best, highly silly considering Mastodon gGmbH, in Germany, is literally right there and serves a several-million userbase thanks to federation.
wsocial.eu seems to try and copy X in Europe, with their current homepage heavily implying that there is no European micro logging social media site.
So far, the poll is heavily leaning towards a "yes"
While we don't accept contributions there *yet*, you can take a look at our code over at tangled.org/starlightnet... now :)
We are going to be mirroring some of our repositories, i.e Makko, on tangled using our own knot server.
We are running a poll on fedi about whether or not to use Tangled for contributions to our software.
Should they do something that we disagree with, we will still have our data and simply be on Blacksky instead.
Shoutouts to those guys, by the way.
