But folks in undergrad wouldn’t be taking stats-for-lawyers classes? Obviously this depends on university offerings but there’s generally a range of stats classes at various levels, taught by statisticians, that they could take. I don’t think painting stats classes as all badly taught is useful.

This is far from universal, yes there are some bad stats profs/classes but most of the many stats professors I know try to have a lot of emphasis on interpretation and intuition. Statistics classes taught by non-statisticians tend to be worse on this front.

As much as I rationally understand that he was a misogynist asshole and all that reflects on him and not me… “idiot incapable of learning” has been so hard to shake entirely and it still is a frequent intrusive thought if I’m feeling down.
The women were also forced to solve their own questions on the board timed and unassisted - the men never were humiliated like that. The same prof told me, the day before the final exam, that I was an “idiot incapable of learning” and set 2-3x length exams so he could grade on a “curve”.
Some friends and I ran an experiment on a misogynistic prof in uni. We’d noticed discrepancies in grades and treatment in general and devised a set of questions to be asked by single-sex subgroups. Same qs; men were told they were smart and insightful, women told they were stupid questions
I legitimately narrowed my PhD school applications to only ones without the GRE, because I’m not good at math standardized testing and i didn’t want that to be a mark against me as I was applying for a stats degree
