Often a person believes himself to be so wise
and believes to gain highest fame thereby,
when the juice of the grapes has affected him negatively.
The next one believes that he is so rich
that even the emperor might not be an equal to him.
The third appears like an extremely hungry horse,
so no one can push enough of fresh or rotten food into the ever open mouth.
The fourth one screams cries over his heavy sins,
and his heart is passionately in flames out of deep repentance
for strange reasons that no one can comprehend.
The fifth one desires to do unchaste actions,
to which he is dedicated day and night,
once he has become addicted to the power of wine.
The sixth has a miserable practice:
He condemns the soul through [false] oaths
so that she will be entirely exhausted when facing God.
The seventh is ready to fight, he growls like a dog
held by a chain and who barks all the time;
its round head is ready for a fight.
The eighth becomes so happy out of drunkenness
that he is ready to sell his honor, property, wife, and children;
the evilness of drunkenness shows in him.
The ninth helplessly becomes crazy,
everything that he knows, sees, or hears,
he presents openly to everyone.
The tenth fights against sleep.
The eleventh sings wild songs
and screams totally uninhibited both in the evening and in the morning.
The twelfth becomes so drunk from heavy drinking
that he feels the alcohol already at the top portion of his throat
and voluntarily pays a tribute to the innkeeper.
15th century poem by Oswald von Wolkenstein listing the 12 types of drunkard

Tweet from Harry Sisson stating that the FBI interviewed a girl who accused Trump of assault when she was 13–15 years old and deemed her credible, followed by the question, “Exonerated by who, exactly?” Embedded below is a screenshot of a tweet quoting Trump saying he has been totally exonerated regarding Jeffrey Epstein.
The FBI has not released all the evidence it has on this victim or her allegations against Trump. Her story was credible enough to be used to sue Epstein successfully and help convict Ghislaine Maxwell. Why can't the world see an unredacted 302 report?

Chinggis Khan dies from complications from falling off a horse! This is the problem with going 'arf arf, what is Aragorn's tax policy'....real life is often either a) dramatically unsatisfying or b) so dramatically neat as to feel contrived.

No one wants your AI crap except soulless, talentless failures who think buying a bowling trophy and engraving their name on it makes them a bowling champion.
Actually, that's a bad metaphor. They didn't even buy their own. They stole someone else's and put their name on it.

Sir Ian McKellen performing a monologue from Shakespeare’s Sir Thomas More on the Stephen Colbert show. Never have I heard this monologue performed with such a keen sense of prescience. Nor have I ever been in this exact historical moment.TY Sir Ian, for reaching us once again.

A photo of the Chattahoochee River includes the words 'Ai steals from artists. It steals from authors. It harms the planet. AI 'art' is not art.' Because fuck AI, that's why.
I'm sick of my IRL acquaintances spreading shitty AI 'art' on Facebook like, 'Oh, it's just fun!' It's not fun. It's regurgitated plagiarism, and it's not art.

An image of antique books on shelves, with a collage in front of them featuring small glimpses of covers from Tim Rayborn's five new books for 2026.
In these chaotic times, creative folks need to share their products, their art, even their wins, more than ever.
Authoritarians hate education, art, laughter, true entertainment, and above all, joy. With that in mind, I'd like to share glimpses of my 5 (!) new books for 2026.

An X post by Lucy (@LucyisjustLucy) with the caption “Their Hulk” over a photo of Hulk Hogan yelling at a podium in red gear, and “My Hulk” over a photo of Mark Ruffalo in a white tux doing a peace sign (a joke contrasting the two “Hulks”).
Perfectly noted.

HAH, remember the video I made about the Icelandic word Gjaldskylda. Well it just got picked as the "Icelandic word of the Year" due to all of the drama surrounding it in 2025
(ps. it wasn't because of my video, I just highlighted the silly situation)

A table of YouGov polling data with the headline: "How your reading habits compare to other Americans."
The chart has the sub-headline: "About how many books have you read or listened to so far in 2025? (% of U.S. adult citizens)."
NEW: How many books did you read this year? If it was more than 2, congrats: you read more than the median American.
Read on for way more @today.yougov.com polling from me on America's book-reading habits in 2025. 1/

periodically I'll see a backlash that goes a little too far or seems kinda unfair. i never say anything because i think we need to be kinda unhinged and zealous in our response to this shit. I'd take an honest-to-God crusade against this stuff over letting it proliferate.
