The SAVE America Act is a voter suppression scam. It would take away the rights of working people to make their voices heard at the ballot box.
The Senate must reject this bill.
Thought on gen AI: we now have AI to replace humans by pretending to be them, writing and talking to other humans, then we have AI to 'humanise' the AI output, and finally we have AI to figure out that it was AI all along.
Do we have no other urgent issues?
Take care of the humans in your life. 🩵
It's only been around 75 years since the first nuclear power stations have started operating, and still nobody knows quite what to do with the highly toxic waste.
My latest shawl/throw, hot off the needle (and blocking mat).

"While the U.S. has no permanent national repository yet, Canada, Sweden & Finland are taking innovative, consent-based approaches to create a final repository for their spent fuel inventories..." In short, NOBODY has a solution yet.

So European Commission President UvdL advocates for 'low emission' (but high-radiation) nuclear energy to secure energy supply especially in times of geopolitical tension. Genius! Why not build your enemies' nukes in your own country? They just need to hit them conventionally then!
“per seat licensing sucks if seats are hit by job losses”
I had this thought for a few years but never managed to put it quite so succinctly. Thank you, Georg Zoeller aka the Attention Economist.

Dozens of wannabe EU translators who were forced last year to resit a grueling entry exam because of a technical blunder say they have now been incorrectly disqualified.
I may be old-fashioned but people who keep talking over everyone else are just rude.
I'm not sure that 'destroying at source' is really defensive. Words or rather their meanings have become rather elastic of late.
I like to watch Kara Swisher and Scott Galloway's Pivot podcast. That's where Scott first came up with the idea, at least that I know, and I am very glad to see it is gaining traction.

Only the men, though. The women dealt with it much more cleverly.
There is always a tweet.
There was a Ukrainian skeleton rider who was disqualified from competition for wearing a helmet - without comment - with pictures of his team mates who had fallen in combat because the ICO considered it a political statement. The locker room footage with your FBI director is what? You're being used!
To the US women ice hockey team: I take my hat off to your win and to the way you dealt with the Trump administration trying to use you to improve their ratings (which are the LOWEST in history, you've never seen anything like it). To the US men's ice hockey team: What were you thinking??????????
How can US ice-hockey players parading a deceased teammate's jersey be a 'beautiful gesture' and a Ukrainian skeleton rider wearing a helmet with uncommented pictures of dead teammates a 'political statement'? Did the politicisation of the helmet happen in the heads of the IOC who disqualified him?
Very powerful thread.
Nei uns im Zwischenhof schon seit ein paar Wochen. Immer noch zaghaft. Und die Forsythie auf dem Balkon hat schon eine offene Blüte.
Of course, it’s humans who are the real drain on the planet (which happens to be true), not AI. So (and this is yet unsaid but we’re halfway there) let’s replace humans.
But of course, he won’t because wearing a clearly political message as an IOC member while also doing work in Gaza (?) is more within the rules than wearing a helmet in honour of one’s fallen fellow athletes. Got it.
So happy that First Felon pleaser Infantilino may be excluded from the IOC for being and wearing a First Felon supporting hat at the Board of Peace meeting.
"The Supreme Court has been swayed by foreign interests." (Trump on tariffs decision) 🤔
These two women are suing Andrew Tate, alleging he raped them. Here they visit the social media companies that created Tate. Please share.

My hometown Halberstadt has its very own Olympic Champion now! Bravo, Georg Fleischhauer of the two-man bob team with Johannes Lochner! So proud.

I am, watching the Olympics on telly.
I hope Jeff Bezos thinks the money he sunk on the leaden duck that is the Melania documentary (our French/American friends call it 'Rich housewives') was worth it, given how he single-handedly sinks an institution of respected journalism to please... whom?
“OpenAI just announced that ChatGPT receives 1 million prompts per week for local news and acknowledged that journalism is foundational infrastructure for AI systems.” Smart move culling WaPo journalists, Bezos.
