Not all of the sourdough recipes she's tried have been winners, but the English muffins were so good.

Bridget made some a couple of weeks ago and they were excellent. We made breakfast sandwiches with them.
Yep. I was a seasonal tour guide.
One thing I learned from working at House of 7 Gables last summer is that Melville and Hawthorne were friends, but that Melville was in love with Hawthorne and obsessed over him to the point that Hawthorne had to end the friendship. Just a little context for Moby Dick.
My best friend and his wife are going to Japan for a month in July. They don't travel as much as we do, and I think they are in for a big surprise for the level of exhaustion.
My cats apparently decided to set their clocks ahead an hour last week, because they have been bugging me for breakfast an hour earlier every day.
My wife and I are 62 now and didn't really start traveling until we were about 50. We definitely don't maintain the same pace we did then, but we have figured out how to manage activities with down time and plan to keep doing it.

If the day comes that the Democratic Party does get control of the government again, there damn well better be a Nuremberg 2.0 and not the usual "it's time to look forward, not backward" crap from you guys.
Didn't even take a day to think about it.
All the usual suspects. Hassan and Shaheen, Fetterman, Gallego, Kaine, Slotkin, Angus King, maybe even Mark Kelly. Probably a few others.
Long story, but my father took his friend Tommy to the emergency room and they picked up two student nurses, one of whom ended up becoming my mother. Now WHY Tommy needed the ER is the *real* story.
The Penis Museum is an absolute hoot, though. And there is something deeply incongruous about it being in a little storefront in the middle of downtown Reykjavik instead of, say, Greenwich Village that adds to the experience.
A good oatmeal raisin cookie is a thing of joy.
Ooh, oatmeal scotchies!
I hadn't seen it in many, many years, and only ever on TV. For a 93-yeqr-od movie, it's still pretty action-packed.
My mother's father (the only grandfather I ever knew) was a mechanic in a shoe factory. My father's father was a professional alcoholic and died of it in 1948, when my dad was 12.
Tonight's classic movie at our local cinema is the original King Kong.
I am a very manly Muppet.
The cats are definitely ready for Daylight Saving Time. For the past week or so, they've taken to waking me up an hour early, wanting dinner early, etc.
You can't spell "corrupt" without the word "cop" in it.
A bridge banner over a highway, which reads "War Crimes Don't Hide Sex Crimes"
This morning in Boston.
Where did you source the baharat? That's a spice I am not familiar with.
Sorry we didn't get to stick around to say hi, but my wife was afraid we would miss our train back to Salem. We really enjoyed your story and the whole event. Now I want to try doing it myself.
We are in Row G!
At The Moth grand slam to see @xingcat.bsky.social tell a story
Thank you for your service.
Every time my wife says we should emigrate to the UK to escape the madness here, I just show her the news.
Truly Mengele-level shit.
Having posted my obligatory Caturday photo, I think I am going to spend the rest of the day offline.
