I got one too. It was a nice one but still a rejection. I joked with friends that I was going to go to their booth and stare intensely at them (I would absolutely never do that).

Tired and slightly sore from AWP. And I have Blondie’s “Denis” stuck in my head.

Yesterday was my first AWP panel. It was packed. People were standing against the walls and sitting on the floor. To share space with such amazing writers and an active audience while speaking the truth about the beauty and strife of my hometown and region was a spiritual experience, an awakening.
