there's so much bad in the world but there's also people who lift up and carry an elderly bat around every day so he can pretend he's flying again, and that's the part of the world I think is worth fighting for

Ghost of Yotei star: 'workers need more protections' in game development
ah, i love seeing this article come round again! i love, love, love making games in frameworks rather than big clunky chunky one-stop-shops. it's so refreshing
I think it's less a question right now of "is Godot ready" than "if we say that Godot is the industry standard [you should treat it like it is!] how does the state of the engine affect the cost and difficulty of making a given game?"
Loved this article from @noelfb.bsky.social. C# and .NET are totally OK to build multiplatform games in 2026!
Lots of gems in the ecosystem

When Unity started collapsing I made a quick "how do I get going in Unreal" website many folks found helpful. that website has now MOVED and is a DIFFERENT COLOUR. If you want Unreal demystification, tips and scoops, this is a place

Four rainbow orbs surround three floating 3D cows against a white, red, green, and blue colour test background. There is a smiling happy face on the left. Stacks of red, green, blue tiles on the right. Bright green text at the top says "Layout space!" while at the bottom, there is some janky text that says "space ! World"
the only thing that makes you more insane than game dev is engine dev
sometimes you just gotta roll around in the current for a bit. it feels great and it's very refreshing.
This curious worm uprooted itself from the sand like a carrot being pulled up by an invisible person, and rolled around in the current for a bit before starting to dig itself back in. You can see the sand grains slowly traveling over some mucous layer as it slowly reverses into the sand.
Why stop at just one?
sega is doing a thing where they're doing merch drops themed around each decade of sonic's history. the literal only game for the "20s" leg is frontiers which, ok, fair, what else is there. but the ONLY game theyre doing for the 10s is mania. which is, uh. kinda damning, huh?
i also thought this when i played it. thinkin they taste like sweet aniseed, like atomic fireballs
A minor league hockey team had a wiener dog race. Zero thoughts, just vibes and absolute chaos. A thing of beauty
The copyright troll in question (under the trade name "Graceware") was using an automated DMCA takedown service provided by Ukie to its members at no cost. It seems Ukie did zero due diligence before setting an automated system to issue takedowns on their behalf.
This whole story (of how a copyright troll used spurious takedowns to keep people from archiving cult-classic 1999 video game Cookie's Bustle) is nuts gamehistory.org/cookies-bust... but I wanna call attention to one detail, about the UK's games-industry trade org, Ukie

i think it might be a sphere of influence. while you're in range of a muppet you become fake, entering the magic circle until they leave, at which point you return to your previous self. like the fae

the harvester rips itself apart in a mechanical failure, because Death anticipates it being embodied by the New Death and has removed a crucial bolt from it - the same bolt that the harvester's maker asks him to hand over when they first meet.
Labour voters, now you can stop splitting the vote against the Green Party.
Labour lies to you, they are not a party that could even beat Reform. They lost to Reform here and will lose to them across England.
Vote Green.

come to think of it, it has been absent in the last few pizza boxes I've had. got some reinforced cardboard on the edges now, so it doesn't sag like it used to!
