Want to roast me or sumthing? :p
I think it got lost in the middle of @tangled.org funding and @npmx.dev news, but I really want feedback from AT Proto folks about this idea ππ
Oh yeah, something like that! There is @cred.blue which does similar thing
Calling out to ATProto builders I know of (and interacted with π
): @baileytownsend.dev @mackuba.eu @patak.cat
Am I cooking or not? I want to know if this is sane idea lol
The biggest selling point for this is that it'd have to be done once per application and anything on the Internet could use it to learn how to sponsor the app (not only components of my idea!).
Basically GitHub's FUNDING.yml but instead an ATProto record. It would be stored in the application repository and would specify how folks can donate to it. It could have some pre-defined ways (OpenCollective, Ko-fi, etc.) that would be standardized as well as URLs or text to explain custom methods.
This theoretically could be enough, it would just require some up-front work for each app to setup itself within the platform and specify how to pay it. But what if we could sort of automate this?
Let me introduce custom lexicon A - sponsorship records.
ATProto needs something like @drips.network, but for applications rather than dependencies. You specify the money you want to donate and the app transfers it to the applications proportionally to your usage!
It could also take some small flat fee per transaction to fund itself
Now that we know our ecosystem usage, we can use it to give back to the community proportionally. That brings us to the second component, the split-funding system!
I'm aware this method is flawed as it's based completely on records which can't count activity not reflect in records, for example:
- using custom feed, such as @spacecowboy17.bsky.social's For You
- watching @stream.place streams
- reading @leaflet.pub publications
- lurking @nooki.me posts
...app was used could be enough for the beginning. In the future, it could do something smarter, but let's take baby steps, okay?
The end goal would be to have a list of apps and percentage of your ecosystem usage, eg: 70% @bsky.app, 20% @leaflet.pub, and 10% @anisota.net.
Let's start with the app, idea is simple - you log in, the app scans your whole repository, and counts how many specific records you have.
Then, it analyzes the data to try to figure out how much each app represents your whole ecosystem usage. Something as simple as calculating how many days an...
Also, as much as I love your community, I hate JS lol
A screenshot of PDSls showing me changing PDS from npmx.social to eurosky.social
Thank you @npmx.dev for being my first European home, but I think it's time for @eurosky.social!
Yes, but it can also contain extra supplements like scripts, documents, references, etc.
IMHO, the biggest selling point for skills for me is that theyβre dynamically loaded, so they donβt waste context until theyβre needed
There are already some projects trying to tackle that! I donβt have my list on hand rn, but I think thereβre like 2/3 projects I know of
Thanks for the comparison, it makes sense now!
Thanks!
@leaflet.pub, feature idea, what if you could move drafts/posts between subscriptions?
I've created a leaflet by accident in my main account, but I wanted to put in in the subscription. Unless I'm mistaken, the only way to move it is to copy the article and paste it into a new one, right?
I don't know if it's @atprotocol.dev, @leaflet.pub, or some other magic, but I have now more draft leaflets than I've ever written blog posts lol
Planes are fast, you should be able to make it just in time π
@mackuba.eu I think you're the only local person I know on here, wanna come and listen about Rust? π
The first talk will be a reality-check on the RIIR movement and the second about the unglamorous side of Rust web development π¦
On Friday, @mackow.ski and I will be giving two talks about Rust on a local meetup in KrakΓ³w!
If you're local, please come and chit-chat with us, if not, the recordings will be available after the event to watch π½οΈ

Iβve came to the UK for two days and saw how shitty it is with those regulations ;-;
Thankfully Poland doesnβt have them π

And itβs finally @rustnationuk.bsky.social!!!
Yeah, the @leaflet.pub is the only one Iβve noticed in the wild myself. It was glorious π€©
