Happy 40th to one of the greatest movies of all time. Russell Mulcahy delivered a fantasy epic with such visual energy that there still hasn't been a way to truly match it. A masterpiece.

Listen to us glaze it some more on @genrevision.com. Heck, it's been long enough it might be due a GenRevisit.

We loved it at @genrevision.com. Here's @travisnewton.bsky.social and I talking about it. I would love to lead the charge with making DEATHSTALKER a regular October watch. youtu.be/prnHUADTEsA

The two @genrevision.com movies that would be part of my supervillain origin are TOYS and THE ASTROLOGER.

If I did a double feature, it would be my equivalent of getting dunked in the Ace Chemicals vat. genrevision.com/posts/astrol...

I'm definitely gonna go apeshit about this on our @genrevision.com Patreon episode of More Currently Consuming. Seriously, this was an out-of-nowhere arrow to my horror heart. An enormous enigma from my early childhood got solved this morning and it's legitimately affecting me.

My Letterboxd review of THE MUMMY

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ 🧑

The '90s are bookended by two perfect movies that both happen to be set in the desert: Tremors and The Mummy.

Each one is a loving, full-hearted embrace of genre absurdity and pulp joys that pushes effects work of the time across an exhilarating threshold. Both movies infuse kinetic adventure into gleeful horror with deft filmmaking, razor-sharp writing, flawless casting, and delightful characters. They use their hands not to strangle the tone with a firm grasp, but for giving it a high five and two enthusiastic thumbs up.

You don't get movies much better than Tremors and The Mummy.

Spoiler for this week's upcoming @genrevision.com episode: THE MUMMY rules.

And yes, I think TREMORS and THE MUMMY are the JAWS and the RAIDERS OF THE LOST ARK of the '90s. They are on that level.
