Except these "programmers" often have AI write the tests as well. You can't write good tests unless you think deeply about the code. You can't think deeply about the code unless you thoroughly understand the code. And in this new AI-pilled world, it's often the case that no one even reads the code.
Sharif don't like it
That one's definitely the real cyriak
I wish they'd do a full-on Liquid Tension Experiment tour. Sort of did that with Satriani some years ago and it was awesome.
A thought struck me recently: we conceptualize certain emotions as shared — joy, grief, etc. — as if we exist in an emotional substrate. But of course, this is an illusion since every emotion is individually felt. It feels very real because we empathetically regulate our emotions to those around us.
I wish it was possible to capture the joy of playing Half-Life for the first time. Just the sheer vibrancy of that world following the grimdark era of Quake. And the multiplayer. And the mods!
If I was sick, I’d probably just watch the Kill Bill five-hour cut again!
Surely you’ve seen Everything Everywhere All At Once by now? If not, then definitely that one!

Screenshot of what's apparently supposed to be a "git flow" chart from Microsoft learning materials. It's full of bizarre spelling errors and fucked up diagram elements that make it pretty clear the thing was AI generated.
oh.... my god??
actual chart from learn.microsoft.com/en-us/traini... btw
Unreal Tournament 2004 is now available for free.
...well, I mean, you probably could've grabbed a GOG offline installer out the back of a truck earlier, but NOW it's Official/Legally Free and has the in-development community patch packed in for ongoing support. www.oldunreal.com/downloads/ut...
I think the Coen Wario is just... Coen...
I recommend the short story if you haven’t read it yet!
The boys are back in town!
We worked on this quietly for 3 years with our heads down. Now you can play it for free. Our goal is monthly updates going forward.

Kinda reminds me of @lena.fyi’s Celeste soundtrack.
Saw this sign on an office building in NYC. Thought it was some sort of art thing, but it's just a software company that... I guess... shamelessly aped the NeXT logo? Kind of strange to make that your brand. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Yext
Fuck, I just can't escape the AI boosting anywhere. Even the Apple indie dev community is salivating over it. At this rate we're going to need social spaces where anything AI-related or -derived is expressly prohibited. It's like an intellectual plague.
Fun fact, you can still import/export file data from Apple Shortcuts on macOS:
1) Download Clipboard Viewer as part of "Additional Tools for Xcode"
2) Click your first shortcut action and Shift-click your last shortcut action
3) Cmd-C
4) Save the com.apple.shortcuts.action clipboard data as a plist
In 2021 I was very into Facebook meme groups and I saw a silly post of someone misquoting the title of 'The King Of Fighters', which lead to someone else creating that beautiful boxart, which led to me creating this complimentary viral masterpiece.
Going back in time to show this to Roger Ebert and demanding he ackowledge that video games are art
If you go through airport security using one boarding pass, then your flight gets cancelled, and then you buy a ticket with a different airline and get a different boarding pass, do you have to leave the secure zone and come back in? What's your status? The mysteries of airport bureaucracy...
Oh dang, rail fans take note!!
I bet he’s fun at parties
iOS share sheets are weird. You'd think that the sharer would pass along a list of possible UTIs that the sharee would opt to respond to, and it *usually* works like that, but e.g. Safari exposes a super-type (called "Safari web") that gets auto-converted to something else before delivery to sharee.
There's a mysterious Shortcuts action called "What's On Screen." I think the intent is for it to grab content in the current app's viewport. For example, it passes along a Maps link if you're viewing business information.
Does it work? Not really. Behavior is highly erratic. But it's a neat idea.
Some cozy floofs for yo’ #caturday
Indeed. There’s a bit of naive optimism about Russia’s post-Soviet future throughout the book. Anyway, putting Red Wave at the top of my reading list: my dad was involved in the Leningrad Rock Club in the 80’s and I’d love to talk to him about it. (I was there too but only as a toddler. 🙂)
