Believe it or not, I'm not necessarily opposed to that idea. I loathe driving in cities and if I have to go to one I try to park outside the city and take public transit in.

I never drive at a speed I feel is unsafe. Yes, that sometimes means I drive below the speed limit, especially in bad weather or on unfamiliar roads. I just don't believe "below the speed limit = safe, above = I want to murder people."

Anyway, my real point here is that I'm going to drive 80 on the highway when it's posted at 65 because I always have and I haven't even died once.
Of course not, but there'll always be car deaths as long as we have cars. Would forcing people to adhere to speed limits lower those deaths? Probably. Is the technology actually capable of doing that reliably? Despite what Subaru would have you believe, probably not.
