I think sometimes people see all the political posts on here and feel shy about posting different things but believe me when I say we have all read enough posts about bad shit happening and want your opinions on Avatar whales or whatever

Or that Parker bequeathed her estate to MLK, and provided that upon his death, the estate would pass to the NAACP. The NAACP continues to benefit from her gift by licensing the use of her works.

The more reading I've done on attention economy and neuroscience, warmer I've become to idea of 100% curating your experience of the world so you can focus on doing the work that matters most to you. We challenge each other to "engage" and "be engaged" but with... EVERYTHING. And that doesn't work

If you weren’t in law school > 20 years ago, you may not realize how earth shaking this is. Judge Luttig was the paragon of conservative judges, clerking for him was the surest way to wind up clerking for Scalia or Thomas. He’s obviously changed a lot in retirement but this is still utterly unreal.
It is pretty ironic that a substantial part of the political attack on the Harris/Walz ticket is that they are good parents who love and accept their children

Somehow the phrase “moderate intellectual disability” has slipped into my sons state legal documents. That structure has benefits. It is not an accurate way to describe my son. To fix it means I’m going to speak about his lacks. I wrote about this some years back.

Infamous rejection letter from Emory Med School from 1959, rejecting an applicant solely bc the school was "not authorized to consider for admission a member of the Negro race." At least they sent back the $5.00 application fee, along with any sense of decency or honor.

A key pillar of the trans panic has been that people’s “intuitive” reactions should govern how others are treated in public space and I think it’s important we reject this wholesale.
Ten years ago my meds melted in the car while I was running another errand and insurance refused to replace them. This has been coming down the line for a long time.
