To be clear, this is not to say Trump isn't bad. He absolutely is. Only that restating the obvious is a waste of precious ad copy / broadcast time / social media attention when we COULD be building up something more sustainable for the long term.

It works because people always blame shit sucking on the people in power — implying Trump's badness without ever needing to name him.

"Trump bad!!" isn't WRONG, per se, it's just a thought-terminating cliché in a time when we need people to become receptive other perspectives.

I am constantly begging rural Minnesota DFL activists to stop beating the "Trump bad!! 😡" drum and start messaging on what we're gonna do FOR REGULAR PEOPLE.

"Shit sucks, so here's what we're gonna do for you" resonates WAY harder than any attack ad.

Decrying trans people calling out transphobia in your political party in an effort to build unity isn’t something that I would say is very unifying.

Whoever decided apple cider should be a seasonal fall drink when hot chocolate, coffee, and tea can all be served year-round deserves to be locked in the stockades with rotten fruits thrown at their head.

Apple cider is the bomb and it deserves more love than it gets.

The real ones say real words. Pay attention to what people say and how they say it.

I haven't been in politics for a long time (only about 10 years) but in that time it has been my experience that the people who admonish others with vague fluff statements like "We don't support hate here!" — and nothing to say beyond that — often have some deeper agenda they'd rather not talk about

For Klobuchar it's all a matter of, "just take the pressure of your jackboot off our neck a little so we can compromise on our principles" where at least Walz refuses to be a traitor to his constituents who believe in being good neighbors and upholding the rule of law.
