Shirtless in cosplay: A big moment for some trans and non-binary cosplayers.

Like many trans masculine people, after I had top surgery I was STOKED to cosplay a shirtless character for the first time. Unfortunately, my initial experiences were filled with transphobia, harassment that caused truly life-long body image issues. To hear that this is still happening to trans masculine people 15 years after my experiences is deeply concerning. So let’s talk about it.

I’ve thought long and hard about making this post but after seeing posts they have echoed my experience over the years as well as reading responses from the ‘Experiences of Trans Cosplayers Survey’ I decided I wanted to share this.

I binged all 12 episodes and here are all my thoughts, I left things vague to avoid spoilers for those who haven't read the books, and if you have, watch it with an open mind, they did make some changes that still make for an interesting story even with the deviations from the books!

Overall 8/10

Id definitely recommend watching this (12 episodes) & if you like it, read the book!

If you can afford it/rent it, listen to the audiobook while reading so you get the art & Alan Cummings narration with various accents!

Theres also an art book for the books & a bonus chapter on the authors website

Final thoughts:
I never thought this series would ever get any adaptation, and I'm pretty happy with this one regardless of the changes.

I think this was successful partially because it was faithful to the books to a degree, but also made changes that allows it to be just as enjoyable by itself!

LAST EPISODE!
Key plot is the same, but characters are all in different spots lol

This episode def deviates, but ngl I like this storyline more than the book for this resolution,inus the outcome for one character 😩

We finally meet the character that drives like 99% of the third book😩 SIR YOURE LATE

Ooh we have deviated again and in an exciting way!

WAIT WHAT IS THIS CHARACTER DOING IM UPSET WE HAVE SEVERELY DEVIATED FROM THE BOOK😭

This hurts my favorite ship in these books😭😭

Episode 10:
Ooh love me some emotions right off the bat.

But also 👀👀 we are now to one of my favorite scenes for the two lead characters.

Ok, we are ignoring book plot points and moving up others, surprisingly with the changes, the pacing is still good!
