Though frequently categorized as a "kusoge (shit game)," the game falls more in line with the "bakage (stupid game)" label.
It's a game which demands patience and skill in overcoming its obtuseness, where the rewards are genuinely amusing gags at the expense of genre tropes.
'Utsurun Desu.: Kawauso Hawaii e Iku!!!' released on this day in 1992.
Based on a then-ongoing gag manga, and starring an "otter" named Kawauso-kun; your goal is to travel toward Hawaii, while bypassing all manner of oddball obstacles and mockeries of conventional game design.
The second (and final) episode of our 'Catwoman' playthrough is up now on YouTube! In which Cass eats a cat treat and later goes on an absolute all-time tear. youtu.be/G6yhUPEyuks

'Homie Rollerz' released on this day in 2008.
The second lowest-rated Nintendo DS title on Metacritic, licensed from a controversial line of capsule toys. Made frustrating by clumsy physics and laser-focused CPU opponents, but easily bested by exploiting its busted lap-counting.
Folks with prior success are struggling to realize that the game industry has changed completely. It's never going back to how it was. Funding, development, and audiences have all fragmented and that is the "new normal." Only folks who have been scrapping their whole career will weather this change.

big shot, comin' through
In animated GIF form, for those who wish to feel the loss in full motion.
get out that brush and paint that beautiful yellow line that shows me where i need to go so i don't walk around in circles. pack the path with scripted setpiece moments, give me enemies that take three bullets tops to kill, and reward me with a cinematic cutscene. i'm ready to embrace being Basic

'Vroom in the night sky' released on this day in 2017.
A game about a magical girl - riding a motorcycle - flying in the night sky. Rather unfairly rated as one of the lowest scoring video games on all of Metacritic -- the worst in all the Switch library (17 out of 100).
I've been playing through most of the Ace Combat series, and I really appreciate the voice acting in Ace Combat X and its "get the most passionate people in the office to go to the sound booth" type of energy.
If'n you're not particularly interested in playing our Bad Game of the month, we encourage those of you following us to join our Discord server anyhow: We're always working to build our community up, foster fun discussions on goofy games, and generally curate a space for cool folk. discord.gg/bghof
This month as part of our Discord server's "Bad Game Club," folk will be playing and commiserating over 'Castlevania' on the N64! Join our club as an excuse to play [or re-play] the game, to share your thoughts on it, or simply to spite that bastard Dracula: discord.gg/bghof
Between needlessly large / barren environments, impossible to complete mission objectives, broken AI, and music which is corrupted to the point of absolute cacophony; it's hard to highlight a single thing G&G gets right. A masterpiece of trash.
Watch us play it here! www.youtube.com/watch?v=wsrm...
'Gods and Generals' (the flop game, not the flop movie) released on this day in 2003.
Largely ignoring the proceedings of its film basis (an unabashed piece of Confederate apologia); G&G instead presents generic Civil War simulation at some of its absolute most busted.
I reckon you could stick around to see us play it and weigh in on it in real time, but it sounds like you've already made up your opinion on it / are pretty inflexible about it. I don't know what else you want us to say? I'm still gonna stand by it being leagues ahead of garbage like 3D Tetris.
Good for Jeremy. We fucking hated it, and would play Virtual Lab over it any day of the week. Opinions aren't monoliths.
Virtual Lab was at least made by a fuckin' cool lady: Jack Bros is just a tedious top-down action game with cruel time limitations and awful movement, whose reputation is founded almost entirely on the "merit" of it being so incredibly rare. Watch us play it to see why we walk away hating it.
The second episode in our Virtual Boy retrospective - "Virtual Insanity" - is up now on YouTube! We've got sub-par sports game, space oddities, a game as rare as it is rancid, and the closest you get to a Mario game on this red-and-black piece of trash. www.youtube.com/watch?v=MsDa...
'Left Alive' released on this day in 2019.
Third-person stealth / survival action in the 'Front Mission' universe. Where all-out gunfights simply won't do, crafting traps and IEDs is key. Unfortunately, even these options are often unhelpful. Still, not entirely without its charm.
'Final Fight: Streetwise' released on this day in 2006.
In which the Final Fight franchise received the mid-aughts gritty reboot treatment -- complete with open world mechanics, as was the style at the time.
(Also, Poison doesn't appear in the game, so what's even the point of playing??)
"Room is a mess! Escargot drilled hole, tried to knock it down with cymbal."

If y'all are angry that Segagaga translation used AI as a starting point, then you should try the Welcome House translation that *only* used ChatGPT and was never proofread before being compiled.

'The Sniper 2' released on this day in 2002.
The sequel to a Japan-only PS1 budget title, which inexplicably made its way to Europe. Simulate the life of a sniper as you execute hits, experience wonderfully hammy dialogue, and... rid the world of aliens?

'Bad Boys: Miami Takedown' released on this day in 2004.
A third-person shooter tie-in to the Michael Bay series of action movies, centering around sans-likeness facsimiles of Will Smith and Martin Lawrence. Shockingly devoid of co-op play, or much else in the way of production value.
