I REALLY need to get a social.bear-den.org instance up and running for people to use, on ActivityPub, I think.
Just created something with my own two hands, no AI involved, just my own skills and knowledge.
Repost to scare @why.bsky.team and the rest of the Bluesky staff!
And if not Tuta, Bear Den Hosting *also* will not share data with the feds, nor will we EVER allow AI in or around any of our products and services.
I mean this is AI (as commonly referred to nowadays) users in a nutshell. People who have zero domain knowledge except for one specific area pretending that they have domain knowledge in ALL areas and acting on it with unearned confidence.
I'm happy to help where I can, but yes, as you said upthread - Linux Mint is a great place to start. It feels familiar and for the most part, Just Works(tm).
AND rejects AI, which is fantastic.

Conveniently, we are not REQUIRED to list websites that people register. We are not REQUIRED to point people to his hate sites.
It's not like we can't do anything. We just have to have the fortitude to do it.
Hey @lastweektonight.com; saw your latest about Twitter and Musk. You had no segment about "what can we do;" well, I have a suggestion.
DNS server operators need to NXDOMAIN the site. Make it inaccessible by the vast majority of people. Screw ICANN and the registrars - knock it offline for most.
Update: We have received verification that client domains are not being impacted by this misclassification on Cisco Umbrella's part. Many thanks to @baralheia@dragonchat.org on ActivityPub for helping us verify that using a sample of client domains to check.
If anyone has a Cisco Umbrella account with administrator level access and is willing to help us troubleshoot, we would be grateful for any information you are able to provide.
To our clients: IF you are affected we will put out a post letting you know and any ETA we have on fixing the issue.
We have been notified that bear-den.org is getting blocked by Cisco Umbrella. We have verified that the server has not been compromised, nor have any of our clients. This blocking may impact access to our domain and client domains - we are attempting to gather information now.
Bear Den Hosting will never support a technology that is actively harmful to humanity in the scale and effectiveness that AI has proven to be.
We value people and people's lives and we will NEVER back down from our unflinching support of that.
With all respect, Mike Masnick of the Bluesky board of directors and owner of TechDirt, go fuck yourself.
Do not try to defend AI from its critical role in suicides just because you like it.

Yes, I am posting this on a business account because this is too important personally to stay silent on. This can and will absolutely TANK veteran health care because we won't be able to afford getting it.
Fuck Trump, fuck Collins, and fuck every single rule maker who thought this was a good idea.
This is going to lead to us veterans going off needed medications or never seeking treatments for our conditions after being diagnosed because if we do, we risk losing our compensation.
Which we have BECAUSE TREATMENT DOESN'T FIX THE UNDERLYING ISSUES!!!
My PTSD doesn't go away because of a pill!
And like clockwork, that publication just released a piece claiming that copyright - the system to protect your work from being stolen - is bad and "stifles innovation."
AI shills just can't help themselves. They hate the idea of creators benefitting from their own work. All must be for The Slurp.
This post brought to you by a blog post about the Internet Archive being blocked from its scraping more and more by many news agencies and other publishers so it will not function as an AI back door.
Truly devastating but a surprise to nobody who knows how destructive AI is.
We at Bear Den Hosting find it rather hilarious, in a sad way, when prominent AI boosters turn around and complain that the open web is closing. Why? Because it is their own actions that are responsible for that very outcome.
We support the REAL open web - a web without AI, private and secure.
That is quite fantastic!
We are, of course, looking into services like Spacebar (a Discord-like that is fully self-hostable) in order to provide that access as well.
Yeah I kinda saw this coming, lovely that there's not much warning time. It shouldn't need to be said but don't give Discord your PII, they'll just fucking lose it.
People should move to self run systems like forums. And HEY, we have a forum! It's just better.

Keep yourselves safe and private with us. We do not and will never ask for age verification beyond a simple "are you an adult" checkbox, and we will do our best to safeguard your privacy against all attackers.
We would like to remind everyone that we are a web and server host. This includes things like our own in-house chat system (XMPP: chat.arthfach.com) and forum (arthfach.com/forum), and the willingness to host and run community services for our clients (such as community forums).

Good evening! We are glad to let our clients (and everyone else) know that we have successfully completed server optimizations; most clients should see performance improvements across the board on their websites and private clouds - and so should the hosted cloud users!
Thank you for trusting us. β€οΈ
These traditionalist Catholics ("Trad Caths") are more aligned with the Sedevacantism movement (en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sedevac...) than true Catholics nowadays.
Their goal is to roll back the Vatican II reforms and become more hateful, bigoted, and exclusive again rather than embrace inclucivity.
The SSPX is a group of Catholics who rejected the reforms of the church in the Second Vatican Council (en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Second_...). They push for a "return to traditionalism" and argue that the Church has lost moral and theological authority - basically, it's gone too "woke."
Ah yeah; I totally understand there. That's a bit outside the scope of what I usually include in my free options so I'm glad we're on the same page with that.
That said, seems easy enough to set up for when you're ready!
