My issue is I love using em dashes in my usual writing π³
Havenβt logged into the other place for months, but canβt seem to get around the block of sharing on here yet.
I feel like I donβt code enough anymore, so donβt have anything to say. I need to find my passion again!

@nation.cymru are doing some stellar reporting on the unnecessary & cruel cuts at Cardiff University.
And senior academics are doing some stellar leaking.
New figures make it clearer that the Uni can afford to not cut 400 jobs. @ucu.org.ukβs been saying this all along.

It's a new week tomorrow and I wish last week was a bad dream. 400 jobs at risk where I work, some academic schools merging and some closing all together, and I have no idea how this is going to affect myself and my colleagues yet.
Side quest unlocked: 12 hours straight marking assessments.
Will get a payday treat for myself this week :)
Buying domains for something you actually need them for past the point of needing them hits different. Is this what it means to be an adult?

Round PCB with two interconnected Pi Pico 2 boards, and a BSides London logo. Photo shows an oscilloscope probe connected, and some lit LEDs.
Sneak preview of what Iβll be demonstrating during my BSides London talk in December. Excuse the soldering on this prototype!
10 years ago I started my degree at a partner college. I absolutely believed I had βfailedβ and that the path I took was the lesser option. Everything happens for a reason and I wouldn't change a thing. β¨
Iβm a little bit of a software engineering teacher, another little bit of an industrial cybersecurity researcher, and a whole lot of a treehugger. πΏπ€βπΌ

Friday 13th is often seen as bad luck, but in many pagan traditions, 12 is the number for completeness and 13 is the number for change. Its been said to represent good luck, and moving with the flow of energy.
I'm currently going through lots of changes, but they're not bad. β¨
Itβs so bloody wholesome on here compared to the other place. π€
OK I'm back. What did I miss?
Being an academic means that I can delve into every special interest I have if I want to as long as I write a paper about it, right?
Once I get my PhD of course. Canβt let myself get distracted just yetβ¦
Iβm starting to think of Welsh words in my head when Iβm reading tweets with words I know the translation for. 25 hours of speaking Welsh this week! What is happening to me? π
Iβm so careful about who and what I spend my energy on these days. Next step is to learn how to put up a βidgafβ barrier when I cannot get away from someone or something that is toxic to me.
Was so good speaking at Cardiff Uni yesterday to Y1 / Y2 students about Maven & other build technologies
Also loved finding out about these final year projects. If you're in a UK company and have an apprenticeship opportunity get in touch with the uni
