Might be interesting to explore if there would be ways to mix in big streaming players without their explicit buy-in....

Compared to a mp3 collection this would also give artist more control over meta-data (covers, lyrics, analytics). Which can also be a win for users.

So basically this is more a protocol aiming at giving artists full control over how they monetize/protect their work as they'd be in full control over access patterns
While still allowing users to have media from different artists, playlists etc etc.

Thinking about pulling all my tracks of Spotify and serve them just from my website...

But my over-engineering mind can't help but create a full blown somewhat decentralized project around that.
