just realized after reading this that playing merp had a subliminal impact on how damage/healing works in my game
(i very consciously took inspiration from its herb system)
it's like finding diary pages in a horror game
rulespilled designmaxxers are trying to funmog the blorbcucked adventurecels
6 players might be too many? there's a lot of stuff to keep track of during an attack roll, especially online when you can't move around the dice to mark gambits etc.
that's interesting, because the combat system felt like the part my group struggled with the most
this is why i made my own vtm-like and am making an osr-ish lol

i restricted explicit combat abilities in my game to one group of backgrounds (1/5 of all backgrounds) and even then most of their abilities are things that make surviving violence easier, not necessarily the act itself.
Wild to me to live in a world where supposedly respected news sources publish think pieces on โNow if you really think about it. Reading words from a screen is like bringing someone to life. This scares and astonishes me, is there a fairy inside the GPU?โ
but i think it's less useful when trying to define a game and more useful when making one
i know very little of game studies but i've always liked "series of interesting choices", i think it was coined by sid meier
the one small thing you lose if you don't use specific measurements is the negative space left by secret rooms, but i don't think it's a good enough reason to do it
i think it's neat when they're alphabetically
doesn't make sense for marketing or name recognition but i like it
is this too much to ask smdh
the original posts were about the quality of the art
just finished watching the chair company and the bar scene in ep 5 is some of the funniest shit i've seen in a while
i don't think there even is any dissonance! there is no cosmic rule that says we must like the people who's art we like, or that we are bad for liking good things made by bad people.
yeah, most games with pantheons feel and operate like multiple religions that coexist in relative harmony
i think tags can work as a shorthand if the other option would be to write the same thing a hundred times
why tho (genuinely interested to know)
the children yearn for the mines
kinda accidentally started making a sandbox with 100+ POIs
what pbta is this playbook from
they hated him because he told them the truth
EU friends, please take a moment to sign this initiative, especially if you're from the countries still below the support threshold
Wrote up a quick blogpost that's been brewing mentally for a while now vaguely relevant to some of the current OSR discourse about adventure design, but really more evergreen in how we do discourse about something that's not actually that important.

i've always looked at lor as something i'd like to run/play in concept but it has never really clicked with me enough to actually do it
oh shit
this has never happened before!
