I'm not sure tbh. Theoretically it might be worth a shot.
Basically yeah
I have no idea what any of that means
That's definitely an option but I don't know a lot about runtime mesh generation
I'm testing this as a way to give a texture volume without needing a bespoke model. There are going to be a quite a few weapons.
Theoretically it's only one draw call since the planes are all in a single mesh, and it's cutout transparency so it can still do depth culling.
That's the theory at least. We'll see how it works out lol
This is to save time in the long run since there are going to be dozens and dozens of different weapons. I'm trying this as a simple way to make them look passable in the world without needing a unique model for each one.
Severian is going to have a heart attack when he logs on and sees what's #5 in trending.
I don't know how voxels work so behold, my solution to make flat gun textures look like they have 3d depth
(it's a bunch of double sided planes)
It has a similarly long intro but it's decent enough, and what comes afterward is amazing
Not sure, but I will say that I bounced off 7 at the time but really enjoyed 8, loved 2make and 4make, and have had a blast with Requiem
I mean yeah, the island part of the original game is arguably the """worst""" part (it's still great, just not as great as the village or castle)
Hahaha I feel like I didn't explain clearly enough that it was a "just for fun how I feel at the moment" list, not anything that's supposed to be objective or finalized.
Like, 4, 7, re2make, and re4make are all good places to start.
To be honest the continuity is convoluted and messy at best and there are multiple points of entry for new players throughout. You don't need to start anywhere near the beginning if you don't want to.
Yeah that's kind of how I'm feeling also
I think I'm nearing the end of RE Requiem, and I do think it has the same "front loaded first half" thing as many Resident Evil games, in that the first half is one of the best things in the entire series and the back half is so far just "pretty darn good"
I've played 1 and 2
If it was past 10 years then yeah Prey would definitely be on there
Well it was released in 2017, not in the 2020s
Well it does seem like Requiem took significant cues from it. Either that or it's that both took inspiration from Alien Isolation.
I haven't played it
I really liked Scorn yeah. It was a runner up
I should note this is entirely based on personal experience and opinion. There are a bunch of games that are probably in the decade's top 10 that I just simply haven't played (Lies of P, Expedition 33, Death Stranding, etc etc)
Right? So far I think RE4make ranks very slightly higher just by virtue of being RE4, but that aside Requiem is solidly the best of the games since... RE4 original maybe??? And that's saying something since multiple entries since og 4 have also been among the best in the series.
RE: Requiem got me thinking about what might be game of the decade, so for fun here's my top 10 so far:
(Discounting anything I or friends/siblings worked on)
1 Elden Ring
2 Doom Eternal
3 RE4 Remake
4 RE Requiem
5 Cruelty Squad
6 Half-life Alyx
7 HROT
8 Amnesia: The Bunker
9 Stalker 2
10 Mundaun
Resident Evil, but applicable to the others probably
HOW IS REQUIEM THIS GOOD
