Designing parks for teenage girls does not mean taking space away from others.
It means noticing who is not using parks and asking why.
It’s about not assuming what teenagers want.
It doesn't mean spaces just for teenage girls, it’s about designing spaces that girls, and others, want to use.

Meanwhile, people in Greater Manchester are being killed and seriously injured at an increasing rate.

Either you're happy for people to be killed and injured to save you a couple of minutes on your journey, or you're not. The evidence that LTNs and 20mph zones save lives is overwhelming.

Lime to run West Midlands cycle and e-scooter hire
Published: Tuesday 20 Jan 2026

More than 2,000 new bikes and e-scooters are set to hit the streets this April following the appointment of Lime as the region’s latest cycle hire provider.

Transport for West Midlands (TfWM) has selected Lime, a global leader in micromobility (the collective term for bikes and scooters), to take on management of the official regional hire scheme following a competitive bidding process.

The agreement means that for the first time the scheme will operate at no cost to the taxpayer. Until now cycle hire has cost Β£1.4m a year to run.

Lime is introducing a new fare structure but has committed to maintain existing overall price levels for the first two years to make sure sustainable travel remains affordable.

Strava heatmap showing importance of the Liverpool Rd section from stadium to M60 junction

This scheme won @walkridegm.org.uk 2024 proposed scheme of the year, and is an important missing link from Irlam to the rest of Salford, continuing the existing A57 shared route.

Without this scheme, the rapidly growing Port Salford will become increasingly locked into car dependency.
