a reel to reel tape recorder from the 70s with the cover taken off and getting cleaned by a cotton swab
the same reel to reel player (realistic 999b) with the cover on and in working order
weekend project: I got this Realistic reel to reel for $28 from goodwill. It looked like it was in pretty good shape but when it arrived the play wheel wouldn't spin. A little rubber renewal & machine oil has it working again! 3 speeds! mic inputs, 3 heads. pretty, pretty, pretty good
