I'm increasingly thinking I might get up to watch qualifying at 5am this morning. First properly competitive session for one of if not the biggest rules changes in F1 history. I want to watch it live.

He's the best <3 a furry menace but it just makes us love him more.
I'm honoured ๐ป I don't think Pippin is very bothered.
I have a job interview for a very exciting role tomorrow so I do hope so...
Quick iRacing Arcade review: fun game. Great on Steam Deck. Career mode is good. Needs more licensed content, both cars and tracks. AI seem decent. Multiclass racing would be good. Needs a proper online mode.
Exactly my thoughts. Bought it earlier and been playing. Great fun.
Does anyone else get depressed by how much better AI is at our jobs?
Not always but often enough that it's quite frustrating and worrying.
Colin Kolles is also still insisting Vanwall will make it too. And will have a brand new car for WEC in 2027.
Alex Palou. Actually unstoppable. Incredible.
I had this as a kid! Read it so much the cover fell off ๐

Was at the Royal Automobile Club in London this morning for an excellent couple of hours hearing about JOTA's plans, aims and expectations for 2026.
Izzy Hammond's crashed Lola-Yamaha Formula E car at Jeddah during the Formula E Evo sessions for online influencers.
Ironically Izzy Hammond crashing in the Formula E influencer event will probably raise her profile more than pretty much anything else.
Much like when her dad crashed the dragster. Top Gear's viewing figures saw a significant increase after and stayed high until 2015.

*what'll. Damn.
Signatech has run the Alpine sportscar team since 2013. Initially it was just a sponsorship deal - stickers essentially - for what was at the time a dead brand. It evolved into a lot more and in 2024 Alpine bought a minority stake in the team.
But that'll happen when Alpine withdraws from WEC?
Wonder if this Alpine WEC news means Alpine will sell its stake in Signatech...
Absolutely. Watching Le Mans for 24 hours straight with no sleep is a perfectly normal, reasonable thing to do.
This is an insane thing for the head of Instagram to say. If I was drinking alcohol for 16 hours a day that would qualify as addiction. Or playing video games for 16 hours a day.
A local BBC Radio station: hi, do you fancy coming on our lunchtime show to talk about Adam Mosseri and the trial in LA?
Me: um, I can talk about the issues, sure, but I think it's not great to discuss ongoing court cases, even if they are in the US and not subject to our laws on contempt of court
Hey maybe when you're freezing cold at Silverstone it'll mean you can watch the race *and* keep your hands warm, at the same time!
That's a good question. I'll see if I can find out.
I'm trying to be neutral on this but I am failing to see the positives. If they want to attract new fans... I can't see how this is going to do that.
The start of the 4 Hours of Spa Francorchamps, part of the European Le Mans Series, in 2026, with the LMP2 field heading into La Source
The ACO/LMEM have confirmed to me that the European Le Mans Series and Michelin Le Mans Cup, both previously streamed on YouTube, will be broadcast for free through the new WEC app for this year.

From WEC: "We'll communicate regarding this a bit later, once we're closer to Qatar"
Interesting! Hopefully it's a bit more stable and usable this time around.
Have asked WEC about the discount code. Will let you know what they say.
Aaahh I see. Could you cast it from your phone to your TV? Would need a Google Chromecast second hand but they're decently cheap. I think there are other non-Google options too.
I think the separate page for the timing was here until recently: live-timing.sportall.tv/en/4933?sess...
Last year there was a separate page for the live timing that didn't have the stream, which worked well enough. Can also use @jamesremuscat.bsky.social's fantastic Timing71 web browser extension on PC, which takes the data and reformats it for a better experience. www.timing71.org
It'll be a good thing until it crashes 5 minutes before the start of Le Mans

New streaming platform for FIA WEC announced, replacing FIAWEC TV. It's called FIAWEC+. No word yet on if the live timing will improve to show tyre compound and energy usage...

I enjoy how Komatsu clearly didn't agree to their logo being used on a camo background.
