I'm always amazed by the amount of people who don't know who Carl Perkins or Screamin' Jay Hawkins are. Or any black artist from that era at all.
Aww shit.
I'm sure you get told off for stuff all the time - in fact I've seen it - and not every front of this fight is about hope, absolutely. I still don't think that what you said is actually true. But for the sake of everyone getting on with more important business we should probably leave it there.
I'm sorry, I'm just going to add, your generality is unfalsifiable, and is likely not true. As far as I'm aware there's no cohort study on "passing" wrt different cohorts who commenced HRT at different ages. It's anecdotally compelling, sure. But that doesn't make it actually true, or helpful.
Very gracious, thanks. I'd just caution that there are lots of middle aged trans people on Bluesky, like me, many of whom will have started their transition long after puberty and most of whom seem to follow you, likely for the very reason of finding hope somewhere in this world.
Oh absolutely!
"Passing" is a multiply problematic concept in this sense. It's a legit ambition - I certainly prefer "passing days" - but it's also pretty antithetical to a view of transness which instead seeks to expand modes of being, to expand modes of expressing gender, and discourages casual transvestigation.
I agree with everything Jolyon is fighting for but I don't think we can or should quantify some manner of passing potential for a given cohort. The primary reason that transition is time sensitive and always time sensitive is the distress experienced by those stuck in their assigned gender imo.
The last thing I want to do is derail from your righteous fight against the NHS under Labour, but I do wonder about the messaging that "most people" will be unable to pass for their lifetime unless they start their transition as teens.
It's okay because Sarah always plays the Tiktoks at high speed and they're always about things like health and death and when they're about parenting and what to do in an emergency when a child is in imminent mortal danger she makes me watch so it's fine. It's FINE.
Doctor says "cure is simple, go and see Mr T performing tonight."
Man starts crying.
"But Doctor," he says, "I pity the fool."
No one should tease your emotions on this one. Time will tell. You have the capacity to deal with either outcome.
Do something that has previously felt like it would be too annoying, too self-indulgent, or too cringe to do.
Gases in the Earth's atmosphere cause light scattering, and the short wavelength light - blue - scatters in all directions. So, at sunrise and sunset, the sun's light travels through more of the atmosphere, biasing that scattering towards longer wavelengths of light - orange and red.
That's you!

There are no ideals. Only cultural and personal subjectivities. Think about your life, your childhood; there was probably some "ideal" water glass that appeals to you still. Emulate this ideal now, by all means- that's the power of adulthood and agency, this is freedom - but don't impose that ideal.

No. But that's okay. It's a journey. Look out the window.
I have a system to tackle both AI and my own dehydration. Since ChatGPT uses a gallon of water per query, you should direct your queries to me instead. I will then drink a glass of water and do my best to answer.

Fantastic choice
Well that's a pretty valid opinion on the whole thing tho
Omg YES!!
For me, one of them has to be this moment after the window closes when the old lady says "aww"
Oh I love that
Oh yes that was a wild one
