Tonight's full moon for February 1, 2026, also known as the snow moon.
I see a snow moon risin' π and on Imoblc no less! Spring is on its way...
A stack of writing craft books focused on writing horror, short stories, and flash fiction.
A full bookshelf with my January purchases front and center, including: King of Ravens by Clare Sager, Enchanting the Fae Queen by Stephanie Burgis, Love's a Witch by Tricia O'Malley, Seven Recipes for Revolution by Ryan Rose, The Wolf and the Crown of Blood by Elizabeth May, Red City by Marie Lu, A Wary of Wyverns S.F. Williamson, The Everlasting by Alix E. Harrow, and Illumicrate edition of The Poet Empress by Shen Tao.
My laptop paused on the Heated Rivalry scene between Shane and Ilya where Shane asks Ilya to come to his cottage (IYKYK).
January was a chill month, especially with *gestures at world* but did dive into writing some short stories and a bit of flash fiction, read some books (and bought almost as many new ones π), and watched of course #HeatedRivalry (multiple times, naturally)

This past weekend (past month?) has been A Lot and it's been feeling like there's no good news coming so I've attempted to celebrate the little things when I get the chance, and I'm excited that I get to say I sold my very first short fiction over the weekend. Won't be out for a bit but it happened!
Until I bought my house, I never lived where neighbors relied on each other, we were always so spread out. But I'm damn grateful for my community with the recent snowstorm because I'd still be trapped in my house without them.
Instead, a few of us worked together and cleared most of the street!
Topped off my car's gas. Set for no-heat foods. My inability to throw out juice jugs to store rainwater for my plants came in handy for water. Will drip a couple faucets once temps drop further. Plastic on the windows.
Not my first big snowstorm with power outage potential but first in this house.
Last day before settling in to not leave the house for the weekend. We're mostly expecting an unknown quantity of snow here in PA but not expecting the roads to be passable Sunday, maybe Monday as well.
Stay safe out there!
Me: *has 4 novel WIPs going which is probably 3 too many*
Also Me: "Okay but, here me out, I have this short story idea about a necromancer..."

My pale hand holding up a white Kobo eReader with the cover of Love's a Witch on it, which includes a man in a kilt sitting on a couch with a woman in lounge wear and bookshelves on either side of them.
My Siamese tabby cat staring off to the side while laying on my lap
The same Siamese tabby cat now staring at me with her head resting on my chest waiting for pets.
Read a cute scotland-based witchy romcom recently, LOVE'S A WITCH by Tricia O'Malley. Generational curses, magical antics, fun banter, adorable animal sidekicks. Would recommend!
(the cat was more interested in why I wasn't petting her instead of reading) #booksky
First Monday back to work after the holiday break β οΈ RIP
Spending new year's eve curled up on the couch with a good book while the cats go full chaos mode thanks to the catnip I gave them.
Obviously the best way to spend the night π₯
A bird's eye view of a small string of pearls succulent in a terracotta pot with a stone in the center.
A side view of a string of pearls plant with new growth sticking out in the air over the edge of the pot.
A different side view of a string of pearls with new growth coming off a stem and splitting into two new stems.
β¨New growthβ¨
Just look at that little string of pearls. You wouldn't know it but a year ago she was a quarter of that size, a mere few inches of a strand that I hadn't yet managed to kill.
Now not only surviving but thriving πΏ
#PlantSky πͺ΄
Discovered last night that I have a mouse in the house. Already looking into preventatives for future issues but in the meantime...
I never wish to see an animal suffer, but this mouse just entered a home with 5 cats including one VERY experienced hunter... this isn't likely to end well...
That feeling when your heart says yes, but your knees doth protest too much

Reviews.
Reviews are free AND they are a gift to authors that can keep on giving (i.e., exposure, marketing, algo boosts, etc.)
Please, give the gift of reviews to your authors this holiday season. It really can make a difference!
A baby snake plant emerging from the soil in the pot of a larger plant.
A bird's eye view of a tray of new succulent plants from propagated leaves.
A new jade plant succulent propagating from a fallen leaf.
The green and slightly varigated leaves of a pothos stretching down from its jar.
A little house plant love for an otherwise dreary Monday πͺ΄ Despite the winter weather outside, they're surviving and thriving! Lots of little plants to pot in the spring π
The pipeline of intrigue to disgust when I notice an ad for something that appears genuinely interesting only to scroll and see it uses genAI π
Writing while half asleep is great for shutting down the inner critic but she's gonna have a field day with this scene tomorrow π #amwriting
My dog's footprints in the snow, one overtop the other.
First snow prints of the season!
My black cat Charlie sitting on the platform of a tan carpeted cat tower.
Saying "Good morning, Charlie" to my cat like I'm one of the Angels and she's about to send me on a top secret mission to impersonate an office worker π΅οΈ
There's something about the first real snow expected at the beginning of December that is deeply satisfying βοΈ
My thyme plant in the garden with its little green leaves flourishing among the dead leaves.
My parsley plant also thriving in the garden surrounded by dead leaves and mulch while its leaves remain bright green.
Also my herbs are STILL GROWING?! These two seem to be very happy despite the number of frosts we've already had πΏ There's something about this side of the house... Last year I had several plants survive well into early winter too #gardening
A little salamander cupped in my hand, found in the leaf litter I was raking into the corner of my yard to serve as a space for smaller critters this winter.
Escape attempt by the little salamander who would have fallen quite a distance had it succeeded. I placed it safely in some leaves further down in the yard where it wouldn't get trampled or swept away.
Just a little critter π₯Ή
Was out in the yard yesterday taking advantage of the last warm day before a week of barely-above-freezing temps when I found this tiny salamander. Almost got swept up with the leaves I was raking!
Nothing like hearing a crash in the house and playing the game of who broke it with the cats π€¦ββοΈ
(Or the secret other option, something old gave out in the house and I can't find it...)
Just found a note in my Obsidian vault for this project titled "IDK" and honestly same, past!Me. Same. #amwriting
My Siamese tabby cat laying on the dog bed half wrapped in a blanket and with one leg stretched out.
The same cat looking up at me with bright blue eyes and her tongue sticking out.
What other people see VS what I get when they're gone π
Happy #Caturday!
Pleeeaasseeee I need the sequel to this book ASAP. Still feeling a major hangover after reading ASUNDER over the summer π₯ Y'all want this book in your life, promise!
Me, holding a gray fox skull with its jaws open in front of a filled bookshelf.
Don't mind me, just screaming my way through the rest of the week
