"Critter Crossing" - How about a little calming effect of the Hoh Rainforest? This scene really appealed to me where the fallen logs became natural bridges and a crystal clear stream slips through layers of moss, ferns, and fresh spring greens.

"Reaching Out" Badland scenes are captivating even though they are just large piles rock and dirt. But when you think about it, they have so many interesting qualities - unique textures and patterns, rich earthy colors, large scale and vastness, mood and atmosphere, and a sense of quiet.
“Labyrinth of Hoodoos” — Planned for a winter storm at Bryce Canyon for weeks (2017).
10-hour drive.
Froze all night in back of truck.
Sunrise sucked.
Cold toes.
Storm cleared anyway during the day.
Worth it!

Aloft - I was anticipating heavy snow on the mountains at Great Sand Dunes NP several years ago, to capture a nice contrasty image. Unfortunately, not much snow. But seemingly out of nowhere, these lenticular clouds appeared. Wow! Not one to focus on just sky in my images, but THIS was special.

"Show-Off" A Pacific Madrone tree never blends in—and this one isn’t even trying. Unique is understatement for this deciduous evergreen tree. After a rain, rich colors are often revealed. The contrast between the cinnamon thin bark and green trunk appear to glow. Enjoy!
"Stillness" - Another of the many reflections I captured this past autumn. Reflections, besides creating natural symmetry, often add a sense of depth to an image. They also add a abstract and painterly quality to an image, making it stand out from a straightforward landscape shot. Enjoy!
"Wings of Winter" - One of the joys of winter in the Skagit Valley (WA), is the arrival of thousands of wintering snow geese and swans. Watching these Trumpeter Swans pass overhead is equal parts wonder and disbelief as they are massive birds. #BirdsInFlight, #WinterWildlife, #PacificNorthwest
"Layers of October" - As I've previously mentioned, there is not a lot of aspen groves in Washington, but when one finds them, the mix of aspen and other colorful bushes can be spectacular. Love the painterly feel of this one.

Turning reality into abstract art is how I best describe water reflection photography. Humans are wired to perk up when we see patterns or balanced shapes. Reflections are the ultimate expression of symmetry. And with the right composition, reflections lend themselves to a bit of mystery.
"Autumn's Serpentine Passage" - How about some morning vibes from the Klickitat River Canyon,WA? No doubt I am enamored by oak trees. Their gnarled bark, sweeping limbs, and sculpted leaves make them wonderfully photogenic. Add in some fog and some real magic happened.
