My email auto-responder is on. I've written everything for the year I wished to write, and some things I didn't. I have nothing left to say.
I am now semi-retired and *off* for the holidays.

Well, I'll just say I'm putting my logic training to good use finally.
Thank you! And how about that photo choice...
Agree wholeheartedly with this piece by @davidmoscrop.com.

When is it okay to criticize the government? Always.
An invitation to embrace disagreement, now more than ever.

Prediction market sites are casinos run by techno-bookies. They're a scourge and ought to be regulated and legislated into oblivion.

They're not going to sign a deal that doesn't massively damage our economy and even then we can't trust them to even abide by it for any longer than the Presidents mood swings.
Can we PLEASE stop acting as if actual normal negotiations are possible?

Fantastic, thank you! I'll tally something up and send a note.
Holy shit that still exists?
Please don't make me post this on Facebook marketplace. That's where they keep all the weirdos, which is saying something given that I'm posting here.
So what? New ones will open elsewhere. We're not economic units. We're humans.
Aside from the age, twins! I mean, although, if we're talking spiritual age...
What if I told you I know more about this because it's my job?
I'm glad I gave them a try. I'm even more glad I gave up. They're not for me.
Is anyone in Ottawa or nearby looking to buy a Sony camera, lenses, lighting set, and stands? Or bits thereof?
I'm selling the video pod equipment I bought last year, hardly ever used, because I gave up on trying to do TikTok and YouTube because I hate them.
Well, times have changed. Sorry.
There are too many replies for me to get into it today. Replies don't pay the bills. Somehow, answering emails does. So just know that I agree with you, whoever you are, and I hope you have a lovely day.
New and improved remote work language PSAC members will now be protected from arbitrary decisions about remote work. We have negotiated language in a letter of agreement that requires managers to assess remote work requests individually, not by group, and provide written responses that will allow members and PSAC to hold the employer accountable to equitable and fair decision-making on remote work. Having all remote work requests reviewed on an individual basis will prevent future "one size fits all" type mandates like the government announced in December last year. That means employee rights around remote work arrangements will be protected through a grievance process, and grievances that are not settled prior to the final step of the grievance process can be referred to a new joint union-management panel for review in each department to address issues related to the employerβs application of the remote work directive in the workplace. PSAC and Treasury Board have also agreed to create a joint committee to review and update the telework policy for the government last updated in 2020 β before the pandemic began.
Telework was a big part of what the union fought for when they were on strike in 2023. Once again, Carney shows no respect for workers' rights and negotiated collective agreements. I'm worried he's going to mess with my pension now too.
So many public service jobs require resources that the public servants ... acquire and store at their desks, and everybody in administration seems to forget this.
My employers once floated the idea of rotating WFH/office sharing with hotdesks (so no one would have a permanent spot) ...
This is what people don't get. Their "common sense" is bullshit.
Ol' Climate Carney strikes again.

Thank god voters in Ottawa voted for Liberals who'd never fire public servants or force them back into obsolete modes of work for which the government itself is not prepared with sufficient supports like...DESK SPACE.
Terribly stupid idea that will satisfy faux-populist urges to dunk on public servants while simultaneously making the lives of public servants and the service itself so much worse.
Goofy stuff.
More than a year after the back-to-office policy was implemented? Great work!
