In another episode of βmy teammates are so cool!β ππ
I am a climate scientist and this is correct β¬οΈ
I firmly believe after this year what my physical therapist told me: every human should have a fully paid for annual evaluation and care session by a physical therapist. Itβs wild to see how much I just accepted my body was βbrokenβ (itβs not!) and I know Iβm not the only one.
I feel like Joe has finally decided that if the whole nationβs gonna collapse, he and only he will get any remaining benefit from his presidency β οΈ
So to summarize, according to #maga, any Black, gay or trans person who achieves any position, no matter how degreed or credentialed they are is an unqualified #dei hire. And any white person, however unqualified or even sketchy is inherently qualified when they get a job. Do I have that right?
Wow this has been happening for four years now? π° I wish there was a way to send a compliant in the app, especially knowing there was already a lawsuit about it.
Is it okay if I share this on another platform with more drag artists? I love bridging worlds haha
Selfie of Chris (left) and Alexis (right), both queer medium toned a11y practitioners of color. Chris has short dark hair with a side cut and wears a light purple deep v-neck sweater. Alexis has short dark hair all around and wears a black graphic tee with the words βHex the Patriarchyβ. Both have peace signs (Chris 2, Alexis 1 so their other hand can hold the camera). Behind them are shelves of a coffee shop and espresso machines.
It wasnβt all bad though! One highlight of leave was getting to meet @chrysaora.bsky.social IRL and getting to fanperson face to face π₯° made the trip to the east coast worth it!
Part of me wants to write a blog post on how I (metaphorically and near physically) fought a medical system so ill equipped to handle concussions and that, for cognitively impaired folks, the systems we have are a nightmare. I also learned SO much through otherβs writings. I just need the energy π₯²
For folks who didnβt know, I recently returned from medical leave for post concussive symptoms from December 2023 injury. A major symptom for me was an unstable parasympathetic nervous system that couldnβt properly restore.
Iβm doing a lot better, but man, at least half of 2024 is a blur.
I'll buy and send a copy of @devonpersing.bsky.social's excellent Accessibility Operations Guidebook to the first five folks who are interested in learning how to make digital accessibility work more sustainable.

Knew I forgot something important π
I say you join us in bringing back Raccoon Person Fall: we hiss, eat garbage and have deep bags under our eyes. @shellelittle.bsky.social did I miss anything? π
This is why I wrote it immediately after!!! lol
The feeling when you redownload an app and realize you were a whole ass different gender expression when you last used it. Damn. π
I miss Tolu (sheβs not dead I just miss her π).
Sooo if anyone knows someone on the T&S team at Lyft, Iβd appreciate the ability to give feedback. Really this is happening to QTBIPOC folks so itβs important to note a gap in the help/feedback experience.
After talking to folks, Iβve learned this is common in the Bay Area. How is it that I canβt report queerphobia unless Iβve actually completed a ride? Canβt get a ride if the person rejects me. And many of us rely on rideshare to not get attacked or shamed on public transit to gigs (if itβs running).
Likewise, Hobby Lobby is terrible! Do your holiday shopping elsewhere (like local queer businesses π).
Last night was the first night I made eye contact with a rideshare driver, confirmed my name, and watched him drive off then cancel my ride solely based on my appearance (I was in drag and covered so the only thing really βweirdβ was pink hair in pigtails). Likeβ¦what?
Why would they when itβs easier to catfish attendees or pick the same five βdiverseβ people? π₯²
Iβm really curious to compare the experiences since last year I went in-person and this year I am digital. Goes to show you can be βan expertβ in a11y and still ableist thinking immunocompromization isnβt a disability π₯΄
Healing is a fricking WILD ride because you end up moving trauma your parents or grandparents bestowed to you as an egg and then donβt know what to do with these cleared spaces so you just end up anxious regardless. Reminding myself that comfort doesnβt always mean safety π₯²π₯²π₯²
Me watching the inner confines of your mind in a cage match

More femmes in a11y brunches please! Full tummy and full heart. π
Fighting toxic masculinity with chivalry is the best. π
Hi folks! Have moved over to BlueSky in hopes social media doesnβt continue to make my blood pressure rise π
Iβm not super active because turns out a) touching grass is great for my health and b) I have like 3 jobs? Lives? And only 24 hours in a day.
Hoping to add links to talks soon.
