Thanks to Gov. Ivey of Alabama for doing the right thing.
This sweet song has been running through my head all week. I hope it's a gift to you, too. www.youtube.com/watch?v=Z2zL...
They all said I was a FOOL for buying a plug-in hybrid when gas prices were low last year.
Actually, nobody said that. But I’m going to pretend they did to burnish my ego.
Just saw what I think was supposed to be a gold Cyber truck, but really it just looked caffeine-free.
It was going on one, two in the morning, and we were shooting what I felt was an important scene for me, when he makes an attempt to be quote-unquote straight, in a suit, and at the end of it he gets emotional and locks himself in the other room. And I felt like, I’m not getting what I want—I’m not happy with it. Mike was happy with it. He called me the next day and said, “I know you weren’t happy with the scene last night. Believe me, we wouldn’t have gone home if I had felt we weren’t getting it.” And then he sort of became my psychiatrist and said, “You find it difficult to be happy, don’t you? You find it difficult to enjoy things.” And I said, “Well, sometimes. Last night was about feeling too tired and not feeling I was reaching what I needed to reach for the scene.” He talked to me then about when he was making, I don’t know whether it was Virginia Woolf or The Graduate. He said, “I didn’t enjoy it for a second. I was worried about so many things.” And then he said, “You know, this is never going to happen again quite this way. You should try to allow yourself to enjoy this more. Take a minute a day, and then add a minute the next day, and another minute. Pretty soon, you’ll have hours of happiness.”
The Birdcage opened thirty years ago today, so in its honor, I want to share one of my favorite stories about Mike Nichols that didn't make it into my biography. This is from an interview I did with Nathan Lane.

The death penalty is unjust. The death penalty, in this case, is beyond unjust.
This came out *four days ago.* Talk about bad timing! www.ajc.com/opinion/2026...
This is a lovely letter to the editor, the epitome of everything we want a letter to be. It's well written, timely and thoughtful.
I just read "in a similar but different vein" in an actual news story, and I literally winced

Within minutes of Trump announcing the launch of Operation Epic Fury, X was flooded with disinformation.
Almost all of the accounts sharing fake videos of the attack on Iran featured blue checkmarks, meaning X is profiting from this.

Yeah, I’m an unabashed Adam Hamilton fan, the end. That guy is the definition of a good man.
you think you've seen the whole movie, and then the alt text reveals you haven't even finished act two

I saw this with my very own eyes, and it was absurd. Real Hunger Games Capitol vibes. archive.ph/U4Hfn
I was glad to be a part of this event today. I am not much of a marcher, but enough is enough.
I hate the politicization of this stuff. The guy who saved so many campers from the flooding in Texas is unquestionably a hero.
Try being named “Dalton Rushing.” What are the odds a MLB player would have such a unique name? Apparently 100%

Hemingway was once bet that he couldn’t write the world’s happiest short story in just 5 words. He replied,
A photo of an ice cream machine with a sign reading, "Anything is possible with ice cream." Beneath that is a hand lettered sign reading, "No ice cream".

This is really good advice. I would add, under the "Comfort Series" heading, that one of my friends calls the new All Creatures Great and Small series on PBS, "Liquid Xanax." I agree.
Looked at my Facebook memories and was struck by the people who commented on my posts who have since died. Truly we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses
The only thing that makes me laugh more than watching Blazing Saddles is watching my wife watching Blazing Saddles.
