The National Science Foundation has indicated that, as of February 4, 2026, they are not yet prepared to announce their fellowship recipients. While the NSF stated that results might be released in the coming weeks, this delay places both job-seekers and hiring institutions in a difficult position.
Not yet. They promised February 1st. Maybe today?
New β I wrote about ChongLy Scott Thao, the elderly Hmong American wrongly arrested and forced out of his home by ICE in his underwear during the punishing Minnesota winter, what witnesses saw, and DHS's racist claim that he fit the description of another Asian man they were looking for.

Me: How much rice to fill 16 peppers for dolma?
Google AI: 12 peppers usually take 1 cup of rice. So for 16 peppers, you would need about 3-3.5 cups.

I didnβt know what dilogarithm was until the 3rd year of grad school. Grace Work and I were computing co-volumes of some Veech groups and when I first saw that some integrals resulted in dilogarithm I knew we were cursed. Somehow magically they all cancelled each other out!

I've wanted to write something about academic accommodations for a while, and in the absence of other inspiration, I'm just going to put it here.
I have a few points to make but first a bit of context about me. I'm profoundly deaf in my right ear. Basically can't hear anything in it. 1/

Three actions of Dβ: on itself by multiplication, on itself by conjugation, and on its subgroups by conjugation. Action graphs of each are shown.
This week, I recorded 4 new #VisualAlgebra YouTube videos on group actions. I heavily use the following concepts:
1. G-sets
2. Action graphs
3. Group switchboards
4. Fixed point tables.
Interested? I'll give you a preview here. Please share!

The most remarkable thing about current protests in Turkey (to me) is that they're led by college students who were born into the ErdoΔan regime. They didn't experience his authoritarian power grab first hand. It's their default. Yet they know what's what and they have a voice. Their minds are free.
After 3 years as a rotator at NSF, i became permanent last august (and suddenly on probation despite years of good work). I quit my academic job in January. Today i was unceremoniously fired for βpoor performanceβ (a lie) along with 167 other amazing folks (like Courtney). So unfair & insulting.
I miss the days when there seemed to be a global consensus that Nazis were the bad guys
