Since HTML, CSS and JS are so fault tolerant and backwards compatible, does that rub off on frontend people?
Do we feel more accommodating? More empathetic?
Messenger.com won't be available after April 14, 2026 but you can continue your conversations on the mobile app and on Facebook.
It's been over a decade since my team launched messenger.com - I made some great friends on that team.
Today I noticed the sunset banner and felt incredible nostalgia and longing.
I'll be using the heck out of this little webapp that could until it goes
Do you think waymos have exterior microphones or are people who angrily honk at them plain dumb?

There is a time and place for extreme go horse, though. Just gotta make a plan to deal with the tech debt
We're on track to get into untenable territory "in six months"
With how easy it is to generate new code that works in isolation:
Do we even need refactoring? Did refactoring ever really help the experience your product was providing?
Like, I'm old enough that it did for me, but is that still true?
After manually(!) reviewing prolly some 50k lines of ai generated slop code this past year:
Writing code that does what you want it to do is kinda easy these days, albeit at a junior to mid level
Getting LLMs to help you properly refactor is quite a frontier. It's absolutely not solved
As a society, we need a solution to tech debt incurred from vibe coding to fix vibe coded code
I'm manually poring over some insane shit rn.
inb4: "you just need to add better guardrails and write more CLAUDE.md docs"
I prefer to fight fire with water
Remember when it was reasonable to expect your flight to at least depart on time?
I feel like 80% of my flights from the past 12 months were super delayed
Can someone explain or am I imagining it?
At Akia, we say the compiler barfed
The naming tho...
Something something happy JS day!
So excited!
I don't know what Google or Fitbit did, but my pixel watch gen3 has gotten a massive battery life bump with last week's update - I'm still on Thursday night's charge
New York, I am in you!
Oh, man! Oh, boy! Oh, geez!
A hummingbird photographer from behind, perched on a long narrow leaf with a classic downtown office building in the background. The low sun is barely illuminating the left half of the bird as it appears to look over its shoulder back at the camera
A few days ago, I started focusing on photography again. I dusted off my very old camera (Sony a6000) and took it out for a spin
Found this cheeky #hummingbird
Your mind goes infinitely inwards
Some pages have event listeners on the capture phase that prevent the event from reaching your extension input that lives inside a shadow dom. Wild stuff
I maintain an extension. It's so annoying sometimes
Wait until the page that you're on starts capturing *some* of your keystrokes
"Nipple deep in a pool" is exclusively how I will be referring to it from now on
A pigeon was perched on my office's flag pole. I said 'sup and it looked at me
While maintaining eye contact, it took a shit on my company's flag
So that's my day. How are you?
My apologies to @container and @eng for random mentions in our github PRs - it's real cool when github auto-tokenizes your commit message body except when it's not lol
He just speedran the last year of my work felt like - bugs and all

So many announcements at @react.dev conf, but one of my favorites has to be CSS in React Native via @expo.dev
Huge. Massive. Let's go!
Straight up genie behaviour
Work day: over
Next stop: Henderson, NV for @react.dev Conf!
Flight: delayed
I've had a hard time getting --x: var(--x, 1em); to work as I want it and ended going with --x: var(--default-x, 1em) but I think figuring out this thing would be massive for composition
In Sweard, AK, when the coffee shop is closed, they just give you a free cup of diner style filter coffee so set you straight.
Free. Out of a closed coffee shop
