I agree with your sentiment strongly but surely itβs been like this forever, since the early 2010s at least. Flappy Bird is still one of the most successful indie games of all time.

Anyone do pitch deck reviews? Or just industry experienced and interested in giving mine a quick look in DMs with some feedback?

Like this if you dig the artstyle!!
Trying to get some traction going for pitching.
A 2D illustration of a robot suspended in the air by many wires. He has a golden art deco mask on, heβs wearing a blue coat draped over his shoulders and his organs are spilling out of his ribcage.
his name is Reginald

Upgrading my Unity project from URP to HDRP, so I have to transfer all of my stuff from my current project to an empty new one.
This is actually great though, I can put it on my SSD, use the latest Editor version, start a bloatless new project, etc. Wish I'd done all this sooner.
Starting to get tired of seeing results for the Prey movie whenever I want to see stuff about the Prey game. Shouldβve called it Psychoshock.
Follow for more profound blosts.
Quack
Really great drumming! Do you have any experience composing with the sax or rock guitar (digitally or IRL)? Iβm thinking most of the gameβs soundtrack will be comprised of that.
Very specific but Iβm interested in hiring a British jazz VGM composer.
By jazz, I mean 1960s blues / swing sort of stuff, very saxophone heavy. Metal / rock experience would be good too.
If any mutuals are interested comment or DM me, or if you can suggest anyone thatβd be great too.
Watched Oldboy. AMAZING!!!
A Discord screenshot of me typing ":DD" into a textbox. Above it reads, "EMOJI MATCHING :DD" while displaying a middle finger emoji below.
Today I learned that Discord will automatically correct ":DD" (as in the happy face) to a middle finger emoji. I'd be mad if it wasn't extremely funny.
Itβs one of my favourite games ever, even ignoring the nostalgia I just think itβs fantastic (and mixing an immersive sim with a third person platformer is a genius idea).
Iβd recommend playing the original instead of the remake if possible but theyβre both good.
Itβs pretty funny to me how both Prey and Epic Mickey are immersive sims with surprisingly similar endings / climaxes.
Definitely a coincidence but the contrast in tone between those games makes it hilarious.
Similarly Bioshock, I have to say they bungled the ending.
Everything was going so extremely well up until the moment the Apex arrives and then after that I feel like it started losing steam quickly.
Still an 8/10 game overall though and I had a ton of fun playing.
The first hour was extremely rough for me but now Iβm absolutely obsessed with this game.
Immersive Sims are true perfection. Iβve sunk like 15 hours into the game now and I almost canβt stop playing.
Havenβt even finished yet but wow this is fantastic.
Starting to get quite bored of this Spiderverse animation style along with other homogenized artstyles.
It worked for Spider-Verse because they executed it extremely well and now it feels like every other new release is trying to poorly imitate them for no reason.

Still so impressive to me that indie teams can make games that look equivalent to Prey visually in 2025.
I want to see more indie games around that level of fidelity.
I do appreciate stylized / low poly games but it feels like it dominates the 3D indie market especially for FPSes.
Playing Prey 2017 for the first time.
They started to become uncommon around 2016-2017 when hero shooters and battle royales got popular, I guess the industry just realized which types of shooters were more lucrative monetarily and latched onto those.
Very alarmed after searching up βgood linear singleplayer shootersβ and only getting results either from almost 10 years ago or DOOM Eternal. Whereβd they go?
I think I'm just sad Light died. Although Near as a character did not feel set up enough too, writing-wise. This part of the show deserved a full 25 episodes, like a proper "season 2", then it might've won me over like the first half of the show did.
As the show progressed the amount of time I had to wait for Lightβs plans to come to fruition got longer and longer, and therefore my excitement to see them get executed properly also got higher, but when the execution fails it just feels like a slight waste of time.
Got to the ending, I still really love the show but I canβt help but feel unsatisfied.
Still glad people are talking about immersive sims at all in 2025 though.
A Reddit post reading βThe Immersive Sim genre needs more games like theseβ with images of Bioshock, Prey and Dishonored.
Posts like these are fascinating to me.
I adore Bioshock (Top 3 games of all time to me) but itβs not an immersive sim at all.
Is it just grouped into this genre by association with System Shock?

Yeah in all honesty the first season was much much better but Iβm still enjoying myself watching the second season
OPM was actually the only anime Iβve ever watched but I decided to start Death Note and itβs so insanely good!! Iβm obsessed with it.
Rewatched both seasons of One Punch Man, just an absolutely fantastic show, I hope Season 3 keeps it up.
