Sure but like 2x not 40x.
Sure but like 2x not 40x.
My blog post from last year about MOSAIC in case you have questions about that.

Then you also need to design it to be mass manufactured.
I think there is an opportunity with MOSAIC to build a $50k airplane that goes totally mainstream.
Other people who are thinking along similar lines, assemble.
The second thing required is market scale. You need simplified flight controls (allowed by MOSAIC) to expand the market for personal aviation so that new people enter the market so that you can sell many units and get economies of scale in manufacturing.
For one, type certification needs to go afuera. This is already happening with the MOSAIC rule for aircraft that qualify for that (basically, have a low clean stall speed).
A Honda Civic EX costs $27k and weighs 1,650 kg, for $20/kg.
An airplane is not more complex than a car, but it costs 40x as much per kg. What would it take to build an airplane for $25/kg?
I've become kind of obsessed with how to get the cost of personal aircraft down.
Example: A new Cirrus SR22 costs around $1.1 million and weighs 1,111 kg without fuel. Call it $1,000/kg.
A Tesla Model Y (long range AWD) costs around $50k and weighs around 1,980 kg. Call it $25/kg.
A European hydrogen lobbyist describes how the IRA is shifting hydrogen investment to the US from Europe after years of European subsidies.
With some battery innovation, autonomy, and the new eVTOL designs, grueling all-day drives could be a thing of the past.
I drove 8+ hours today, and then looked up how much a charter flight for the same route (local airport) would be. Under $6k round trip for 4 passengers in a PC-12.
Not quite affordable but cheaper than I expected. If we had had more innovation in aviation over the last 50 years, it could work.

Could there be an option to show replies only to people we follow?

Newberry Volcano. Exciting geothermal experiments happening there.
β‘οΈ Now ready for development: custom algorithms!
We've put together a starter kit with instructions on how to implement your own custom algorithm here.

It would be cool if we could attach PDFs to skeets just like other media. π€
Letβs hope!
Iβm just bullshitting.
I had a boss on Capitol Hill who used quotation marks for emphasis, it was hilarious.
The timeline is not grouped by replies, posts are just in chronological order.
Sucks that they picked the wrong horse!
It doesnβt seem that anybody so far is building a Tweetbot-style client for Bluesky, but I hope somebody does!
Posted on bird site:
I want a simple chronological timeline without threading, and I want the app to save state about location within that timeline across relaunches and devices.
I had that with Tweetbot, but then Twitter disabled third-party clients, and my experience has been worse since.
I met a turtle yesterday.

Watch the pin from the queen on d1!
No, the bishop on e8 pins the queen to that diagonal.
Yes, pins everywhere!
