When Harris picked Walz as a running mate, I thought it was a normal-tier choice.
At this point, I think it marked a huge failure in vetting by Democrats, and that Republicans dropped the ball in oppo research.

Jay Jones wanted violence inflicted on a political opponent (and also said opponent's chlidren). His texts make that extremely clear.
That is not acceptable in a position of power and trust. And that's true whether or not he wanted it public, his skin color, or any "but Trump!" statement.
The legal strategy that annoys me the most when it comes to election reform (and it works a lot) is playing clock shenanigans.
It should never be too early or too late to hold the state accountable for conducting elections properly.
That is inferred subtext out of her head. It is factually not what was said, which makes putting the words in his mouth malpractice by both academic and journalistic standards.
No, this is Attiah’s hill. She decided to double down on her misquotation and use it as the centerpiece of her appeal for public support.
When you say “Black women X,” it becomes a categorical statement about all black women, as opposed to a statement about a narrower set of four specific black women.
“These specific four women are stupid” isn’t a statement about a racial class.
Which is why the misquote was treated as outrageous by Kirk’s fans.
She was not quoting him directly.
bsky.app/profile/math...
She didn't quote him accurately in context.
bsky.app/profile/math...
She misquoted him, FWIW.
bsky.app/profile/math...
Misquoting someone by switching the words "you" and "Black women" without even bracketing the substitution is not "quot[ing] truth."
bsky.app/profile/math...
She misquoted him. He was talking quite specifically about four women who had recently claimed that they had personally benefitted from affirmative action.
bsky.app/profile/math...
She misquoted him; he did not say the words she attributed to him.
bsky.app/profile/math...
She did not "writ[e] truth about Charlie Kirk." She misquoted him.
bsky.app/profile/math...
She said it was one quote. Factually, she edited the quote in question, deleting three qualifying words and substituting "Black women" for "You."
bsky.app/profile/math...
Not a statement actually made by Charlie Kirk.
At this point, I intend to make a serious effort to write up a functional, fair, transparent, and easy to understand redistricting algorithm.
I'm interested in commentary, feedback, and comparison to other existing redistricting algorithms.

This isn't going to make me many friends on BlueSky, but those of you relying on BlueSky as source of information deserve to know that Karen Attiah misquoted Charlie Kirk and is therefore presently doubling down on a lie.
(3) The left has a growing problem with the illiberal endorsement of political violence. The people who are celebrating the assassination have no place in a party or political organization that contributes to the functioning of a liberal democracy. Kick them out.
(2) It is not pragmatic good politics. It removes a piece from the board; it also changes the rules of play. The backlash will be substantial.
(1) This is political violence targeting speech. "We shoot the talky guy" is pure anathema to the principles of functional liberal democracy.
I don't think I will write an article on the Charlie Kirk assassination. I may write one more broadly on political violence. I deeply disapprove of this development. This is abhorrent and morally indefensible.
Book 2 is out! It's exciting :)
Trump has deported 200,000 immigrants in his first six months in office. At current rates, he will deport 1.6 million immigrants in his term.
Even considering the rather large ICE budget increase, it's unlikely Trump can finish the project of deporting illegal immigrants.
One thing I love about having made the switch to a Leaf - no oil in an electric. I had to watch my old car’s levels all the time, sometimes it would burn oil.

We already went through the "affirmative action cheating" cycle with Elizabeth Warren.
She still got elected in her safely Democratic constituency, but by a notably smaller margin, and head-to-head polls suggested that she would manage to lose the popular vote to Donald Trump nationally.
Happy Independence Day!
We were lucky enough to have our YouGov/The Economist poll in field when the US bombed Iranian nuclear facilities. You can see the partisan realignment in real time
I know Red Team & Blue Team are both focused on KBJ’s fiery dissent, but it’s a dissent that neither Kagan nor Sotomayor were willing to endorse.
Sotomayor’s opinion is the one endorsed by all three liberal justices.
