oh, i found a project file for a song that is kinda cute and about the times where it's okay to not be okay
it's very rough and basic but i think there's a cozy quality about it that's appealing. idk if i'll polish it for album three but i might release it as a little gentle single thing
(Which is totally fine, but it does still occasionally conflict with the overall perception that artists work with vsynths as part of their self-expression- which I think you did cover in your video.)
at this point, the community is pretty good at encouraging newbies to spend time learning about producers and recognizing that these characters are not, on their own, artists.
still, i'd guess a good portion primarily fixate on the characters driving their imagination, not the artists behind them.
that said, i think a reasonable number of people who are totally brand new to vsynths don't really care about who specifically is responsible for the creative process- many of our long-time members were like that once, and it's very easy to fall into that exact pitfall without enough information.
the bits regarding the "authorship" of the vsynth versus the actual artists were interesting to mentioned here, and i think it's a pretty common point of confusion cuz i talked about that in a random bsky thread once bsky.app/profile/lupi...

BTW it is EXTREMELY common for academic papers to declare Lara Croft the first playable female game character (a very easy fact to debunk). As a grad student I wrote a paper that traced every appearance of this "fact" to a single paper, which is why you don't only engage with academic texts!!

I wish some major media outlets would do broad reports on the impact of death threats on our politics, and on who's doing them (MAGA men mostly from what I can tell), and why law enforcement appears to be doing so little about them. They are such a big (submerged) part of our politics now.
