The decks definitely have flaws (plus Amulet + Summer Bloom was just legal) but the flaws are charming. I'd recommend trying the format, especially if you've never played. I researched some representative and balanced lists, if you want a starting point: moxfield.com/bookmarks/d6...
I put together a box of 2014 Modern decks recently and playing them has been a lot of fun. 2014 was when I was just getting into competitive Magic and I was happy to find that the gameplay was as good as I remembered.
I had the same issue. Kind of an insane amount of equity to lose to a bug.
Playing UR at PT Vegas, like most people. Reverse-innovation of 0 Vivi, which is maybe crazy, but it didn't seem good in mirrors to me. moxfield.com/decks/Qdw-12...
With only a week until PT Final Fantasy it's time to introduce our lineup for the event!
First we have Allen Wu, Pro Tour champion and 3-time Grand Prix champion. Follow him @nalkpas.bsky.social to read his excellent magic theory pieces. Allen needs 8 wins to qualify for the next PT.
Finished 9-6 at RC Minneapolis last weekend. Not my favorite standard format, but it was a fun weekend seeing friends. I played UR, which feels oppressively good but maybe has enough cracks in its armor. moxfield.com/decks/lAAAp_...
I played Belcher last weekend at MXP Santa Clara to a 5-3 finish, missing day 2. A bit disappointing, but I wasn't too invested. I got the list and physical deck from @pg8.bsky.social and it felt great. I only wish I'd played more Unable to Scream, probably 4. moxfield.com/decks/eER0h6...
