I think very many of us are voting in a way that we don't wholly want so that ultimately we can vote red way we want in future. Let's do the needful. I'm voting SNP1 now so we don't have to after independence.

Pro-independence for Scotland and any other peoples that want it. Doing my little bit to push this agenda along. Here for comment not argument. It's nice to be nice, so trolls, name-callers and rude people will be blocked.

But to come back to Ed Central & Edinburgh & Lothians E region, it's not about an individual seat but the total each party wins. The SNP will win more seats in the region so it's easier for the SGP to get list seats still.
Have a read.

That with knobs on. Childish behaviour in this way by members of both parties (and with Alba also) is just so tiresome and pointless. It's not going to convince any voters at all, and is more likely to put them off.
I'll leave @drjohnm61.bsky.social and @radiojammor.bsky.social to argue over that one with you based on their calculations and current polling, and shall watch the show with interest. Let battle commence ;0)
My own gut feeling is that *lots* of people vote SNP purely on the independence position and have no particular strong tie to the party, and will happily vote elsewhere if another indy party on the list beckons.
Indeed. Pete's handle is @petewishart.bsky.social
This makes sense to me. I saw @petewishart arguing for two votes SNP and replied asking for his workings. So, Pete, now's your chance, let's sort this out. Why should I cast my second pro-indy vote for the SNP? Kindly show us your modelling.
The Scottish Lib Dems mystify me. Nice enough individuals, some quite charming even. However, all too often they are posted missing when defending their own country and inexplicably tolerate being treated like shit on their shoes by Tories and Labour. A waste of a vote really π

Two months until Scotland decides.
Stay stuck in broken Brexit Britain, or choose the fresh start of independence.
That wealthier, fairer future for Scotland is possible. On May 7, vote SNP to make it a reality.
Out of the 6 main parties contesting the list vote, FOUR are unionist and only the other ONE is pro-indy - the Greens.
The SNP is likely to win few, if any, list seats.
So if pro-independence voters donβt give their 2nd vote to the Greens, who gets those seats instead?
Itβs pretty obvious.
Energy in Scotland should be free.

Similar here. My inclination will be to vote Green after Indy, but do find some of their current strategies, policies and personalities irritations. But the same goes for the SNP too.
There's reporting and there's rabble rousing.

Unfortunately an SNP majority is a very remote possibility.
Constituency Vote? List Vote? Maximising indy MSPs. The voting system used in Scottish general elections was explicitly set up by the Labour UK government in 1998* to prevent an SP majority in the Scottish Parliament. It is split into two votes.. β’ a Constituency vote similar to Westminster's 'First Past The Post' (FPTP) system (deciding 73 Holyrood seats). β’ and a Regional, or List vote, which uses the "Additional Member System' to select extra MSPs from a party list (deciding 56 Holyrood seats). A party may stand for list seats only if it wishes. constituency votes seats, whilst the Conservatives and Labour together won only 10 seats. However, due to their constituency vote success, the SP's 956,000 list votes were 'devalued' by the system and won them only 4 additional list MSPs, whilst the Conservatives and Labour's combined vote - only 4,000 more votes - got them 45 additional MSPs. How to maximise your pro-indy votes in May 2026 ... Assuming that the SNP continues to poll well on the The system is designed to ensure that the more constituency seats a party wins, the more their list votes are 'devalued' and the harder it becomes for it to win list seats. By contrast, the value of list votes for parties that win fewer constituency seats is increased. In the 2016 election, for example, the SNP won 59 of the 73 constituency vote, the best way to maximise your pro-indy vote and reduce the number of Unionist MSPs is to give your regional list vote to the Scottish Greens who are best placed in all* regions to increase pro-indy list seats - vote SNP1/SG2 * In rare circumstances where the SNP and Scottish Greens compete for a constituency, vote for whichever holds the lead - Leader1/SG2.
The current advice I'v seen is to vote #SNP1SGP2 everywhere except where the SNP and SGP are competing on the constituency vote (eg Edinburgh central), where recommended vote is to vote for whichever leads polling = Leader1/SGP2. This graphic may help. Please do share it.
βgreens will struggle to get 2 seats in any regionβ and that is the whole point in voting SNP 1 SG 2. All those waisted SNP 2 votes if sent to the SGs gets them a load more seats, all taken from unionist parties and that is βtarget[ing] Unionist seats on the listβ
Rubbish. Here are the projected last seat winning % and the SNP % and the adjusted % miss. There isnβt a single region where the SNP will get a seat βtaken from themβ
But your recommendation is a great one for ensuring unionists win lots of seats
