This FOl enquiry for the Guardian has taken up a great deal of my life for the past 2 years. (1/3)
Letβs collectively imagine the world otherwise β Archaeology, Anthropology and World Culture Museums can be more than some legacy colonial death cult π«
The mass murder of civilians in Gaza, the brazen attacks on hospitals and schools, without any accountability has created a new kind of warfare that should terrify and enrage all of us.

It frankly doesnβt matter if DHS βlied.β They should not exist, and Columbia university, which has been cooperating with these state agencies to provide information about students, staff, and faculty to facilitate deportation, does not get to come out of this looking like a victim.

just became a monthly supporter of @jamhoor.org because in a world of ever-proliferating little mags, we could stand to see a lot more dedicated work on south asia and the potentials of its left
Israel is trying to rewrite ancient history. In Palestine, Israel has systematically destroyed ancient heritage and made colonial land grabs of archaeological sites.

Can 20 people join us today in donating to the Sameer Project for Ramadan? $8 provides a meal for a family, and $32 can pay for groceries. You can also donate more to fund a water truck or a water desalination plant.

London friends! Come hang out with us tomorrow and reimagine a play about how powerful men sacrifice young girls in the name of never-ending wars that preserve an unjust world order⦠which is in absolutely no way relevant to the world in which we live, of course.
The executive board wants to install a task force to discuss results, and the President and Secretary have announced to step down only after the Annual Meeting in Athens. Nothing has been said about Gaza. These responses are not sufficient.
The EAA votes are out
The great majority of our archaeological community has voted in favour of the petitions raised by #concernedEAA. We asked for a democratic process, we asked for accountability, and for the need to acknowledge the horrific genocidal policy of Israel against Gaza.
once again, i feel compelled to remind academics that when you use theories, methods, and epistemologies of the marginalized but treat your marginalized colleagues and students like shit: you are the problem. and yeah, we see you.
