Image from a medical textbook of a man with his arm extended, with the text "an agent's guide to SEE IN ME THE WOLF by Gwendolyn Vines," an #agentguide #agentsguide for an #amquerying manuscript.
PITCH: (dark STEM academic science fantasy, 108,000 words) When Institute grad student Jim invents a device that could revolutionize medicine, his intoxicating suitemate Bash warns him it could be weaponizedβand stops at nothing to make his point. Are Jim's degree & the lives he could save worth staining his conscience? For fans of: the grounded and ugly magical academia of BLOOD OVER BRIGHT HAVEN, BABEL, and THE TWO DOCTORS GORSKI; the criticism of tech venture capitalism of RIPE; the obsessive acespec yearning, body horror, and unreliable narrator of DON'T LET THE FOREST IN, and the corruption of tech and its makers of ARCANE.
A painting in the background of a blond man viewed in profile, head bowed, with an X drawn across his face through which an xray of his skull and spine is visible. The text reads THEMES: ivory tower classism & egos manipulative relationships neurodivergence as power grey ethics in technology academic power abuse consent in medicine code-switching in the lower right hand corner in dark text, it reads (there was only one bed)
Image: a silhouette walking up the stairs, head haloed by a lit chandelier. EXCERPT from SEE IN ME THE WOLF by Gwendolyn Vines/@gwenvines This time, though, it was not Six whose face was bathed and baptized by light. It was Bashβs, his lone gold hoop gleaming amidst his curls, the spindly shadows of his lashes stretching over his dark eyes, and the sleeve of his linen robe where it draped from his arm rendered translucent by the sunβs rays. It was Bash who sat atop his regal, woody throne and passed judgment upon Jim. Jim, his blond hair set aflame not by Kontrolle or diffuser but by the sunβs fleeting gift, stared back, waiting. Unlike Etienne, the King Reluctant, Jim had never been told he was the best. Unlike Six, the King Desirous, Jim had never needed to be the best. Unlike Bash, the King Apparent, Jim had never been the best. Jimβs calling, his compulsion, was to be of use. That is all he had ever needed, wanted, or been. And it was Bash, now, to whom he wished to be useful.
DON'T LET THE FOREST IN x BABEL
Jim's graduate research was meant to bring salvation to rural regions like his own. Healing, with a simple telepathic command. Growth. But not all growth is good for the bodyβor soul.
Lucky for Jim, botanist Bash is *excellent* at pruning.

Moodboard for an #amquerying manuscript featuring images of chemistry glassware; equations on a chalkboard; anatomical, botanical and medical diagrams; dark, lush foliage, and stars streaking through a night sky with long exposure astrophotography.
BABEL x RIPE
Desperate to study at the Institute, graduate student Jim pitches rising star Professor Tanner a device that could revolutionizeβor weaponizeβmedicine. Tanner wants to put it in everyone's pocket...and she doesn't care who it might hurt.

I've had a song from a dvd menu screen stuck in my head for more than twenty years, and I'd love to figure out what it's from. Maybe you know!

A small square piece of embroidery. It is a fluffy white ground made using a punch needle and cut loop technique, and cutting across it are flattened embroidered footprints and paw prints
Oh gosh, this embroidered piece by Narumi Takada is so so lovely. βStepping on Fresh Snowβ

There's a 'show your improvement in the last 5 years' thing going on twitter, so here's mine, 2018 vs 2023:
I still like circles and stars a lot, but I'm not afraid of colour anymore!
THANK YOU!!!! πππ It's been rough, NGL, but finally emerging from the fugue state π₯°π£π£π£
don't talk to me or my son ever again
Digital drawing: a lightning strike cuts across the page between the chests of two figures standing nearly back to back in shadow. Text reads βknow that we could have done this together. Know that we may die because we didnβt.β
Oops forgot several #repostober art days. Some art from the very exquisite-vibes spooky written oneshot from back in ~ February. So many missed opportunities between Fylo and @novah.bsky.socialβs Jim in that game to ever communicate while trying not to die (spoiler: Fylo died)
Thank you so much!!! :DDDD
π₯³π₯³π₯³π₯³π₯°π₯°π₯°ππππ thank you!!!! Longest nine months ever, plus the longest maybe-two-weeks-maybe-tomorrow left to go!

a drawing of Reineke, protagonist of the comic Hans Vogel is Dead, a young girl wearing a tattered red cloak and a mask in the shape of a fox's head. she is floating in space in front of a mass of snarling dog mauls and falling petals from a sunflower.

I have had this smartwatch for less than a week, and I'm already unreasonably annoyed when it doesn't track a night of sleep
I am embarrassed to admit that without my glasses on, I initially read the text as "my OC, Griddle"
I love when people think that their singular point of anecdata somehow makes them the ultimate expert on a company's quality control.....
Photo of an orrery made of hand-etched brass gears, a polished wooden base, and hand-blown glass planets.
My husband is an artist who makes orreries (clockwork planetary models) out of metal and glass. When I was struggling to finish my novel, he made me a deal: if I finished the book, he'd make me an orrery based on the world of my novel.
It's freaking BEAUTIFUL.
I started with the Oblation Olive b/c it's so warm and complements the other inks I have going (it's so delicious so far!!) and I think the Fir will be an excellent winter ink after that, with the Vert Moyen in spring! I'm very excited to try the Colorverse b/c I have yet to try a shimmer ink!!
