I think the biggest damage to the art community was the obsolescence of gallery sites (y!, deviantart, etc) and the rise of scroll-by social media, like twitter and even tumblr. Art is not ''content'', you shouldnt need to post art every day (or every month!) to be relevant. This mindset sucks.

Hey, alongside contacting your representatives, this seems like another thing worth putting a bit of your time into and sharing around. If we could get "reputational risk" taken off the table, even in this current climate, that could create a chilling effect on these kinds of policies

the only time i never care about this is in a group of a bunch of really good friends bc if i enter the channel to post my own shit i'm screeching and emote reacting to theirs first

from what i understand this is actually like the norm when it comes to things as far as i can tell. like there's a buffer of like "i don't wanna post over you so i'll delay this 30 minutes to an hour" & sometimes people extend it a full handful of hours
