Back in the Studio: A Summer Break, Big Plans, and Momentum It’s been a minute, but we’re excited to share a brand new episode of Standing in the Fire. After a summer full of family time, construction dust, and launching the Momentum Entrepreneurship Hub here in South Bend, Kris and I finally sat down together in our new Fireside

🎙️ The Evolution of Podcasts:

1995: 🎧 Nonexistent (but we had radio drama classics!)

2000: 💡 Early experiments, a few dozen shows

2005: 🚀 Apple adds podcasts to iTunes (~5K shows)

2010: 🌱 Steady growth (~85K shows)

2015: 🔥 The boom (~200K shows)

2024: 🌍 5M+ pods, ~1M active

Finally did some performance work for @fireside.fm.

* added marginalia to track down some queries
* reduced the # of queries (zapped some n+1, etc.)
* removed use of lower function in queries so pg would use indexes

The results were great! Another drop off graph for my folder named "dexter". 📉😎
