61 countries still haven't submitted new NDCs. There's still time to embed walking & cycling into climate commitments. These are not peripheral solutions — they are fundamental.

But accountability lags behind. Only 3 countries have measurable cycling indicators. Zero have walking-specific ones. And 12 countries have actually removed active mobility commitments — going backward.
Half of new NDCs now include active mobility — a 12% increase since 2023. 90% of those include a visible budget. Countries like Cambodia, Canada & Colombia are leading with concrete investment and targets.
Walking & cycling are gaining ground in climate pledges. A new analysis from our partners at PATH examines 133 NDCs covering 67% of global emissions. The findings? Real momentum — but serious gaps remain.
