Really appreciate your posts here

I think that's a temporary phase while liquidity + more supply of goods and services migrate onchain

But I hear you on the concerns. What are the alternatives you're exploring?

Any thoughts on using USDC / other stablecoins?

11 months ago 1 0 1 0

Ah gotcha

But if both are built / run by the same PBC, why not blend the PDS authentication into the mobile app to simplify it for users?

It feels like an arbitrary technical boundary otherwise and may confuse non-technical users

Thanks for explaining all
This btw!

No worries — hard to discern earnestness on anon social media

So in this example, since I’m using the default PDS (bsky.social), it sends me to that login page?

Wonder why it doesn’t open this app and ask me if I want to give the requesting app oauth

I don’t fully understand how Bluesky / ATproto work and am still learning

If I don’t self host, where is my “web based login page” that you mentioned? OAuth would be the ideal sign in process

11 months ago 0 0 1 0

Probably because most users aren’t technical or willing enough to self host a PDS?

11 months ago 0 0 1 0

This is weird ergonomics

Is the only way to authenticate using your bsky handle into other apps by creating an app-specific password?

How about videos of the talks?

Will #atmosphereconf talk slides / videos be shared anywhere?

Missed the stream but interested in watching your talk @pfrazee.com

Is it just an inconvenient fact for Bluesky users that @jay.bsky.team used to work on Bitcoin and Zcash?

I think that’s actually OG and is long-term good for Bsky / AT Protocol

But the sentiment here is so reflexively anti-crypto, that I wonder how this is perceived

11 months ago 1 0 0 0

How do I find more protocol people here?

Need not be crypto, but definitely p2p or decentralization focused (I figure most people here don't really like cryptocurrencies)

What does this mean, and how do I get one of these bad boys

1 year ago 1 0 1 0

You're right, but conflating 2 things:
- most people on FC care about tokens from a perspective of wanting to participate in economies
- not as many people care about blockchain culture -- this is still more dominant on CT

But if you dislike to chains + tokens, I can understand wanting to be here

A cartoon of our blessed homeland, their barbarous wastes

I don't understand?

Crypto is a tool. The barrier to entry to FC is not the ideology, it's the usage of crypto tools (which tbf are still clunky)

I think all people will become "crypto people" over time, so it has the great potential to contain multitudes -- more so than being a liberal bastion

1 year ago 0 0 1 0

I'm trying, but the culture of a place leaves a first impression

You don't just immediately find the subcultures

And being blasted with politics + emotion combined makes it less desirable to look deeper (hence the "cultish" description)

1 year ago 2 0 2 0

That's fair -- there's less breadth on FC. Not denying that

But my default bsky feed is:
- cope about the US election
- anger about the cabinet nominations
- dog photos while joking about being depressed

I also don't care for political content -- but I can't avoid it here

1 year ago 1 0 1 0

yeah me too, but I want to find other crypto folks that may not be active on FC

1 year ago 1 0 1 0

How do I find the crypto{graphy, currency} people on this app?

1 year ago 1 0 1 0

FC is far more crypto-centric, you're right

But there's less political polarization. This feels like left-wing Twitter / X

Very few conservatives here

1 year ago 3 0 1 0

Do you disagree?

I feel like there is more ideological purity testing here

1 year ago 3 0 1 0

You're not giving any specifics

Are you talking about the recent channel changes? That doesn't mean FC is leaving you

1 year ago 0 0 1 0

Wdym? How did FC leave you?

1 year ago 0 0 1 0

Nah, I have zero intention of leaving Farcaster

But keeping an open mind and trying to learn more about bsky too
