WELL MY MOM SAYS IM SPECIAL
Day 10 of #AdventOfGameDev2025 saw new fields on the screen, as well as the creation of new components! I also got the base of the character sheet config started. Super pleased with this so far. Next up: An inventory component, then wiring fields together and adding some more logic. #Godot #GameDev
Iβve got a 34β wide in landscape, and a 27β in portrait. I also have to switch between computers a bunch so I donβt know what I would do with 3 monitors π
I think this was just a left heavy video π I was in a meeting multi-tasking and forgot to move my work to the primary monitor and my meeting to the secondary lol
A one eyed black cat looking into the camera while sitting on a desk next to a computer.
Am I in a meeting? Yes. Am I also taking pictures of my cat for the internet? Also yes. Gotta pay the #CatTax and #SpooksTheCat almost never sits still for long enough to get a picture.
CLOAK BROTHER
Not #GameDev, but a little time lapse from my day job as a #SoftwareEngineer. Also, yes Iβm wearing a #cloak, and yes it makes me feel like a #coding #wizard. And it keeps me toasty in my cold office π
Day 9 of #AdventOfGameDev2025 ended up as a refactor of my Day 8 demo based on a suggestion I got, and honestly I like it better. Reduced a good bit of complexity. Still need to work on sizing and wire up the signals, but I think this #UX is nicer.

My laptop could use more stickers.
Iβd love to have something like this for my IDE π
It flew pretty well under the radar, but I thought it was excellent. Consider checking it out!
This reminds me of 2008βs Jumper, where the jump leaves a βtearβ that can be taken advantage of by the βPaladinsβ who were hunting jumpers. This is such a neat concept.
Those look awesome!
Day 8 of #AdventOfGameDev2025 comes with a little demo video! Got the reusable stat component into a good enough state that I can now edit values. It isn't pretty, but its there! #Godot #GameDev #IndieGameDev
Day 6 of #AdventOfGameDev2025 consisted of watching some videos and reading documents about how Control Nodes and Container Nodes in #Godot. They are pivotal for the game, since itβs primarily a character sheet manager. Got some good clarity, and came up with some ideas for dynamic components!
Future will hopefully be system agnostic and high configurable, allowing any Ttrpg to be played, either solo or in a group, and manage every aspect of the game (character sheet, dice rolling, dungeon/hexcrawl, journaling, etc).
I realized I never explained what Iβm building. The goal is to build something in Godot to play/manage TTRPG games, whether for solo RPGs for group games, with MVP focus on getting it working for #Runecairn by @byodinsbeardrpg.com.
Wasnβt able to get anything done for day 5 of #AdventOfGameDev2025, too many work meetings, then a family grocery store run followed by the typical family bed time chaos left me wiped out. So Iβll be doing double time for Day 6! The hope is to get one or two more custom components built!
I forgot to post for Day 4 of #AdventOfGameDev2025. Spent my time actually working in #Godot, which was a lot of fun. Currently trying to build a basic, reusable Stat panel consisting of a Label, Current Value, and Max Value (i.e. βStrength 15/15). Got a basic (and ugly) version done!
Make it anyway. I want to see it!
Fellow #SoftwareEngineers, and any engineers who work at #meta, I have a Tech Screening interview tomorrow morning for a remote Senior engineering position. Any advice or ideas of what to look out for? Thanks in advance!
An experiment. Can you like this post if (and only if) you play and buy video games.
Some people over on Twitter/X seem to think it's only game developers here.
(reposts welcome to spread the word)
I forgot to post for #AdventOfGameDev2025, but Day 3 consisted of wrapping up my game design doc, then converting it into tasks in Trello. Even decided to make the board public. Day 4 will hopefully involve some code for getting basic UI Elements in place.

And the best coffee shop buddy a guy could ask for.

Gotta love a classic coffee shop #softwaredeveloper work day. Fun fact about me, Iβm love e-ink tablets, and this #SupernoteNomad is a dream.
Instructions unclear, tried to boop, now have dead pixels on screen and a sore finger.
Day 2 of #AdventOfGameDev2025 in the books. Spent time organizing my thoughts into a design doc so I could figure out what a reasonable MVP would be. I'm really excited by my idea (less game, more app, but built with #Godot) and the design doc only amplified that. Day 3 here we come!
That being said, Day 1 is in the books. Nothing crazy, just initialized a project in #godot, got a repo made in #git, and we are off to the races. Day 2 will likely comprise of creating a simple game design doc, breaking down some tasks, and hopefully starting some basic logic. #AdventOfGameDev2025
Always been interested in #GameDev. Had a conversation with @chumba-wumba-dev.bsky.social and came up with the idea of doing #AdventOfGameDev2025. Idea being that I'll commit 15 minutes per day for 25 days to doing some sort of game development.
