I agree.Barbara Gordon was a more interesting character with a history of trauma that caused a lifelong disability. She also added to the overall diversity of the DC characters, which is always a good thing. Although my question about them being dicks was rhetorical, the answer to me is kind of yes.

Well, my kids are under 10, & they're already too aware of what a shit-show they're getting. To me, it's about hoping they keep their bliss as long as possible, and knowing that's not realistic. I look at old toddler photos, & my kids are ALWAYS smiling and giggling. They don't do that anymore.
