Student loan interest is a big fuck off actually.
Financial year 2024β2025 a full third of my loan repayments went to paying down interest accrued over the same 12 month period, like what the heck.

We're just creatures, creaturing.
Never really bothered with VRChat or anything even though lots of folks say it gives them the good species endorphins.
Anyway Iβm now well into playing Minecraft again cuz this one server lets me be a bat :3
Wow Amazon returns is just awful these days huh?
1. Go to Amazon's customer service portal.
2. Click on product.
3. Report that product was not delivered.
4. Get told that because it was sold by a third-party that I need to contact support for third-party sellers.

@kaijuchomps.bsky.social The race ended up pretty good, I think!
Interesting that Google Webmaster Tools feels the need to inform me that it couldn't index my website's 404 page because it returned a 404 status.
I like Eleventy and I get that funding open source is difficult, but I really don't vibe with this weird corporatisation and generification of things. https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/fontawesome/build-awesome

Planting trees is way more physically demanding and time consuming than I expected. Especially when you have estrogenised noodle arms and are doing it all by yourself.
A little tree in some parkland with stakes and safety netting and mulch and the whole shebang.
I planted a tree :3
I'm a lil hesitant to bother signing up for Stoat given I've been told it's a UK-based company and will inevitably have to implement the same offputting age verification features that other apps have been forced to. Is there a reason I outta give it a shot anyway?

A fox came up really close (like 1 metre) to us as we were walking home aaaa
I wasn't given a specific reason, just asked to take it down. And yeah, it's not sensitive in the slightest really!
The new fire dog looks a lot like, and has an almost identical name to, the fire dog from Cassette Beasts.
@david How did anyone thing it was pronounced like 'bow wow' in the first place??
@kinachi.lugiaberry.art I haven't used it directly, but it seems to provide colours specifically for use on top of other colours makes me think they are performing the same or similar contrast assessments.
Generating a random example and checking them manually seems that they at least meet the [β¦]
WCAG's contrast ratio calculations are flawed, in that they only compare lightness values and don't account for how different hues have different perceptual brightness.
The APCA calculation method is much better at accounting for that, but it remains a draft that isn't likely to be implemented [β¦]
Soft launch of a lil tool I've been working on: You plug in a list of hex colours and it'll give you previews, the contrast ratios and WCAG scores for each possible combination of those colours.

@spamcan.bsky.social It's an implicit exclusion of already vulnerable people from accessing government services or information. Not great, and would've been utterly avoidable if they'd just kept the existing team doing what they were already doing.
The new government websites coming out of the US are all so grossly inaccessible, like they haven't made the bare minimum effort to ensure text is readable or anything.
I wish I could be surprised.

@spamcan.bsky.social I got a feature suggestion that I feel like you might've heard before but in case not:
It'd be right neat if you could have images already in the app (and/or already uploaded to the badge) but be able to set them as hidden, so they don't get cycled through until unhidden in [β¦]
Iβm seemingly in the minority but I dislike TypeScript with a passion. I have never in my entire career encountered a language that has so frequently and so consistently reduced my working velocity to zero.
Just use JavaScript y'all. If you need type safety then that's what `typeof` and `===` [β¦]
Once again spending literal hours trying to find out what some obtuse Typescript error message means because it's decided it doesn't understand some perfectly cromulent, defensively coded JavaScript. Le sigh.

@david Design systems are my bread and butter, but I'm already committed to a few other fandom projects so Iβm not sure I have the capacity to be a full-on contributor.
I can always consult and help with bits-n-bobs where ya might find it beneficial?
