Maybe thereβs a whole time travel plot he forgot to write up.

Thatβs not true. But Leonidas opted to go fight a bunch of Persians at Thermopylae rather than stay in Sparta when Chotiner came to visit.
It was all a hoax and everyone faked injury and death and theyβre fine in Svalbard PROVE THEY ARENβT I DARE YOU
Maybe this is liberating. I can just move into a decrepit mansion and act weird. Iβd go for pajamas though.
Thatβs not true. But William the Conqueror was seen scrambling onto a boat with Chotiner behind him in the surf.

Great. Just great. Now Iβve even missed my ragged-wedding-dress window.
No sadness right now Bill. All happy endings.
Todayβs persona is bullying people on the internet to only think and say happy thoughts. I am, sadly, unable to send anyone to the cornfield. I would be very busy.
[screaming, fingers in ears] la la la la la I CANβT HEAR YOU
No. Sheβs a million years old. I canβt cope with anything else.
Everything stops for tea.

Itβs an amazing item, it really is.
That would make me check flood warnings very carefully indeed.
No, I couldnβt. Please, you can have it back. Take mine while youβre at it - it does me no good.
Yikes
And now I have to make it to the store before tomorrow because I am taking a zoom class. AUGH.
Me, engaging with a new craft: excellent, I will go get [tool] that I got for this.
[tears everything apart, no tool]
Brain: looks smug
Me: brain?
Brain: mmmm?
Me: is this the ONE THING we didnβt get on spec?
Brain (shrugging): you wanted to stop doing stuff like that.

I finished first re-read a couple of months ago. It was wrenching but rewarded a slow thoughtful read.

Read Heather OβDonoghueβs Beowulf: Poem, Poet, and Hero, and loved it. Fascinating contextualization of the poem as well as a literary analysis. For those of us who canβt get enough Beowulf (there are dozens of us! Dozens!) very much worth it.
I tried to explain and I got the looks I get when that happens and I stopped.
When I made my Macbeth cake (see my banner) I made a point of putting them in Tudor clothes so as not to profane the memories of Groa and Thorfinn.
This went largely unremarked by, you know, everyone, but it was important to ME.
Oh god I hurt even thinking about that one.
Iβm reading a Beowulf study right now, and itβs also informative and would probably help the re-read of King Hereafter. If I can cope.
I am here for a mysterious, damaged, psychic Miss Piggy as River Tam.
Sign me up 100%.
I didnβt find it until a couple of years ago - bluesky book convos put me on to it and Iβm obsessed now. I re-read Lymond recently and if anything it was harder second time around.
Pawn In Frankincense, by Dorothy Dunnett.
That thousand-yard stare lasted for some time.

Oh thank god.
I donβt want it back either but please I need some nostalgia to survive.
Amen, Dunnett friend.
I just came here wondering about whether anyone would choose T.A.
I choose As You Like It
And the Scottish one. Or maybe Lear.
This is a lovely spider mug.
I found her 2y ago through bluesky! And I have loved the conversations.
