What I find bleak is how all of the politics/economics reporting around this war not only uses "energy" as synonymous with fossil fuels, but also has literally *nothing* to say about the politics/economics of moving off these fuels. Their continued use is 100% baked-in to all mainstream geopolitics.

The right time was obviously decades ago to start cutting into our dependency on fossil fuels, it's a much harder job now but leaving it any longer it obviously becomes harder and harder
People more intelligent than I have been saying it for years, but when you see what's happening in the middle east, there is no better time than to invest heavily in moving away from fossil fuels as an energy source and go all in on renewables, battery storage, grid upgrades, etc
