Alphonse Mucha inspired art nouveau stylised poster of scene from the Jules Verne 20,000 leagues under the seas novel. Depicting the leviathan squid approaching the Nautilus. The poster is tall and thin with naturalistic patterns, and sea floral and fauna cascading around the borders with a blueprint style elevated view of the Nautilus submarine at the bottom.

A Jules Verne and Alphonse Mucha Art Nouveau poster inspired artwork that has given me an amazing amount of relaxation and pleasure drawing (No AI was used to create this imagery). Fine art printing is done and I'm really looking forward to seeing it framed and on the wall. I will post the result! πŸ₯²

Watched a video, learnt some new tricks with synchronisation of GPU and physics on CPU, and oh boy... I've got things floating on the noisy water. So excited about getting larger sailable vessels going now. Whoop!

In the "fragment" part of the shader, Blended normal maps (a rock material one and a bubbly/foam one), with a low roughness (0.1) setting mainly (shinny). Some trig (sine) math as well to vary the normal map lookups (uv coordinates) to make it look fluid.

Refining the movable whirlpool feature. Once again, pretty pleased with this evenings #indiegamedev efforts. I think #godotengine is starting to sink in and made this pretty comfortably (mostly shader work tbh).

Why the water?

Well there are some vast rooms in these dungeons that will be navigable by vessels of various forms the exhibit both safety and danger (...aka "boss" type entities).

(Started making these over a year ago! πŸ˜€)

Yeah. It will need a bit tuning for sure although generally, when in the dungeon game, camera mostly looks down so hoping I can hide the crimes so to speak. Honestly, it's a very simple shader really and I didn't want to spend ages on it.

A rare attempt by myself at a half decent dungeon water shader. Uses vertex deformation for waves (really!? 😜), a whirlpool and up to 16 ripple sources (for things floating). Chatgpt prompt as a starter, but refactored over 80% of the shader code (good learning though). #godotengine #indiegamedev
