I've seen this called a "Florida Excommunication" but, as my buddy put it, it's really more of an Eggs Interdict.
When the court has one injunction against you, itβs your problem. When the court has a thousand injunctions against you, itβs the courtβs problem.
Now *maybe* there are private messages to Iran that do give offramps, and the public messages are just bluster. We don't see everything. But a) who are those messages going to? and b) it matters that everyone in Iran getting only the public messaging thinks the conflict is existential.
Acknowledging that conflict is existential from a position of strength (1865, 1945) might be good: it tells everyone what the stakes are. But saying it to look tough, or to cover for not having a plan in a limited conflict is foolish in the extreme. Closes every path except greater violence.

Killing the other side's leader and demanding unconditional surrender makes negotiation both impossible and pointless. If so, then the downside of escalation goes away, and the conflict becomes existential.

Even if you are lucky enough to have legal representation, which in immigration must be funded by yourself (or pro bono counsel) how do your lawyers rep you in this system? Not to mention how does your family find you? not due process
